England vs Hungary - When did sportsmen stop playing sport?

Gerrard is English so it is ok for him to dive and it will rightly be ignored, had someone done it against England then the idiot Wright would have been jumping about like a madman saying they were robbed....
Exactly, Owen has dived in the past as has Rooney and J Cole (went down for a pen yesterday but got turned down iirc). There has been hardly any reaction from the media towards Gerrards dive, but you can put a bet on that if it had been the other way round there would have been slighly more coverage

I personally don't understand the reasoning of the media at times. At WC98 and WC2002 Owen dived against the Argies and won a penalty yet nobody mentions it. Yet when Simone goes down in a heap at WC98 he is a cheating Argie who robbed them.

Also look at the treatment Drogba and Pires have got by the media in recent times, constantly called cheats when some English players are just as bad but their reasoning for that is they dive because they are badly influenced by the foreign players!

That is your opinion but it was as clear a dive from the close angle they showed it on when it happened live. Hence the commentators barking it was a foul and when they showed the replay they were silent. Was very clever the way he did it though but from the right angle you can see the contact is not great at all.

So you're saying its my opinion that it was not a dive but in fact it definitely was?

It was not a dive.

Don't recall ever saying it was a fact  From what I saw it was clearly a dive but obviously your opinion differs. No need to roll your eyes now is there?

You allowed me an opinion and then instead of giving me yours simply told me mine was wrong.

If you explained badly then I take back the rolleyes.

Wrighty hit it straight on the head, others will do it so when in rome.

If england win the world cup with a bit of cheating good lets do it, Britain is seen as a wimpy country anyway, ppl do not complain when they should, our sportsmen are too bloody polite.....the modern game includes cheating and diving amongst other things.

Yes it needs to be stamped out but until it is dive like your going down on Angelina Jolie.

Nice guys dont win world cups

I think you have known me long enough to know how I post, I probably should have added an 'imo' in there somewhere so my sincere apologies for not doing so ;)

Also noticed you not a mod anymore? What happened? Don't tell me the gooner and scouser had you removed from your position? ;)

If the England team want to go down that route fine but how can the press slaughter foreign players for doing it but turn a blind eye to the English players? Either slaughter both or accept both....

I assume they do it cos they are the British press, I would assume if it happened to the French team they would slaughter the other team but if it was the French team diving they would say nothing.

I said it before

Diving...

If everyone else does it and we dont, does that make us honorable or stupid?

Its no good one team not diving if everyone else is or we have a disadvantage. No one remembers who dived or not in the World Cup. Apart from the hand of God.

So in my opinion...DIVE!!! lol

Even if he did dive a little I don't think it's that big a problem, he didn't gain any advantage out of diving as the penalty would have been given anyway. The law states that any attempt to strike a player is a foul and, of course, a foul in the box is a penalty, so it was always a pen anyway.
