That is exactly how you would want defenders to play against Owen tho ? He might not be as quick as he was,but he's still quick enough

Not in the past two tournaments he hasnt.
Yesterday, he beat the offside trap twice (once wrongly flagged) and the Jamacains who were not exactly whippit fast were catching him up easily.
I cant see it it doing us any favours, its all we've got mind so moaning wont get us anywhere i know, but dont go getting your hopes up agaisnt good teams, as it isnt going to happen.
 
Owen hasnt been the same player since his second hamstring injury, he just doesnt use his pace anymore to take people on, whether he is scared or just doesnt have the pace anymore i dont know.

And i gotta say i agree with most on the crouch issue, imo the guy is a honest player and does have some good touches, but he is too slow and and just cant head a ball to save his life.he is a bit part player to say the least.

But who else is there, Andy J, youre having a laugh, most of goals are pens and for most of his season in the prem he played as the lone man upfront.Defoe? maybe but can we have a front pairing so small? It should have been beattie, apart from him i cant think of anybody in the prem who can do the target man role well, bent is too similar to owen for my liking.

We really seem to be struggling for strikers right now, and for the future too.

hopefully not a worry for England since Rooney will be fit for the games after the group stages hopefully (if England get that far), Crouch and Rooney should be good enough till then.
A worry for Arsenal though who paid £5Million for him (rising to a possible £12M) and who have to pay him £1M a year till 2008, I wouldn't even pay him a packet of crisps and a mars bar at the moment. Maybe he'll be good to decent when he's 20 or so, but at the moment he's useless.
 
Sven should have taken Chris Sutton. 6ft4, 3 inches smaller than Crouch (but Sutton can actually jump more than 10cm off the floor). Probably as good touch as Crouch and finisher, I would put money on him being a lot stronger and possibly a bit faster, ****** off defenders, experience, overall good target man.. You may laugh but think about it for more than a few seconds

A-Chris Sutton wasnt injured at the minute.

B-Chris Sutton was any good.

C- Chris Sutton got his team relegated
D- Chris Sutton played in the mickey mouse league for the last 4(?) seasons prior to this one
E-Chris Sutton is so good that he just got released by Birmingham

against two awful teams, Brazil have an average defence as usual which could be exposed against the good teams.
 
only players id worry about in brazils team are kaka and ronaldinho...

we shouldnt be so "worried" about the rest of their team, i am not saying they are rubbish, they are still amazing, but we have a world class setup now.... i think they should be more worried about us this time.. and i think many will have slight concerns against us this world cup

this week is going to drag soooooo much....

can't wait til saturday... actually i cant wait til friday.. Germany vs Costa Rica... come on.. Ive never seen a world cup opening game before, 1998 i was at primary school.. 2002 i was at secondary school... 2006 i was supposed to be at college... and then a evening shift at work..stuff that
