English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

Nicely done Arsenal and congrats to bender boy getting his hattrick, honestly thought he would have messed up the penalty lol but luckily he scored...didnt think we looked all that strong at the start of the 2nd half...rode our luck until Nasri took the bulls by the horn and scored an absolutely immense and sublime goal...thought Wenger made a mistake taking Rosicky off as he was one of our better players but i guess him being so injury prone i dont blame him.

All in all a great performance from Arsenal...Arshavin was immense tonight and Eboue came on and scored a lovely goal and also created the penalty:p

Am glad we managed to hand Porto their asses on a plate...5-0 is a pretty good scoreline...means we go through to the QF's...so far this season is shaping up to be very good...just hoping that we win a trophy.

Awesome victory though...thoroughly pleased with that result:)

Good win for Arsenal.

Good game for Bender, showing he has potentional, needs to keep this up and improve.

Bendtner was worse tonight overall than at Burnley, but we had less fluid fast attacks and more players running with the ball largely as thats what Nasri, Arshavin and Rosicky like to do so not surprising. THe ball got in the box less so less chances for Bendtner, but again he was always in the right place, and made good runs dragging the defenders around to free up space for others. He ran across to near post for that Sagna chance, whole defence followed him, Sagna should have done miles better in the box with so much space and time.

Sagna's crossing was very very poor again and that shot was badly taken, but did ok the rest of the game.

Porto are a really quite awful team, though better than Burnley, marginally. The work rate, style of play, link up and constant inteligent defence unsettling runs are great, if we played a little more direct he could have scored more, pretty much scored every chance he had tonight.

Eboue was incredibly effective when he came on, again, drives past people who tend to hack him down, won freekicks which helps us slow a game down and keep the ball upfield, his pace is unbelieveable, no one could stay with him when he broke for the goal and he was some 20 yards deeper than Arshavin when the move started and some 30-35yards deeper than that centre back, great composed finished which is a rarity for him.

Theo, well, he didn't replicate his form form the second half of last game, while many other players did. The reason he's not great is he's shown no ability to put in consistantly good performances. Was quite funny that as the only thing he got right recently was the goal, he tried for an identical goal twice, once with a horribly mi**** shot and one horrible cross, completely ineffective again although he has been showing slightly more willingness to fight shoulder to shoulder while running for a ball, though he doesn't ever win them.

I'd like it if he could play well and consistantly, but again he showed that one good half, preceded by many awful games and a ineffective appearance in the next game really doesn't mean he's turning the corner.

Overall maybe a flattering win, deserved of course but flattering in the opposition are regarded as a far better team than they played like.

Arshavin's twisting run for Bendtner's second and Nasri's superb individual goal would likely just not be possible against better opposition, I think Souness said that and I have to agree.

IS it just me or was the ref taking a stupidly long time getting ready for the penalty and making Bendtner wait for no reason. Everything looked ready then he walked over to the keeper and spoke with him for 10 seconds before walking VERY slowly right to the edge of the box and then waited 5-10 seconds to blow the whistle. I can understand if the keepers being a twit, but he appeared to be standing completely still and on his line? Ref with a bet on Bendtner not getting a hattrick?

Good on Bendtner for not letting it get to him.

Arsenal SMASHED Porto into tiny pieces.

Best game I've seen Arsenal play in quite a while.. Nasri's goal! Amazing!

I normally knock Bendtner but tonight it felt like he was a different person.. well ok maybe not he still waves his arms around in the air like a girl when tackling. :p

Oh to be a.. Gooner :D

LOL yep have to say i saw that...kinda surreal as to why did it but meh Bender got his goal and hattrick and thats what counts the most.

I know i havent been his biggest fan ie Bendnter but im really hoping that tonight gives him the much needed confidence boost to make him into a better player...i guess hes got age on his side but we definitely need him to start firing on all cylinders if we expect to win anything this yr.

Also another thing that Souness, Gullit and Adams were talking about was that one of them was saying that Arsenal have the ability to win the CL title and Prem title without a doubt...we have the players to do so but the question is do we have the mental ability to win it??...can only hope that this season we do show our mental ability...we have shown in past games ie Liverpool at Anfield that we could win a scrappy dirty game...we just need to keep winning the scrappy games..would have been better if we had also beaten Chelski and Utd but luckily for us...results have gone outr way somewhat.
