English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

So Arsenal are the best team in the Universe now I take it?:p

Well done for beating Porto - and you are welcome to your night of celebrations, but come on .......do you really think any of those goals would have gone in in an EPL match? Certainly Bentner wouldnt have scored apart from possibly the penalty. Arsenal played well , but Porto played REALLY badly to make Wenger's men look better than they are also

Of course Arsenal have a chance at the EPL - with three points in it (given Chelsea's game in hand) with 9 games to go, but to see both Man Utd and Chelsea concede at least 3 points more than Arsenal is pretty unlikely (I personally think its Chelsea's to lose, even with Cech out for a few more weeks)

I dont think Arsenal have a hope in **** of doing anything significant in the CL even with a kind draw in the 1/4ers

LOL no that honour belongs to Utd;)...hopefully tonight they will get beat which will make my week even better...Beckham to get a hattrick and then throw his show at Fergies ugly mug:p:D

Write Arsenal off at your peril...we are hitting good form at the moment in both the EPL and CL...

Chelsea, Man Utd and Barcelona would all be too strong for Arsenal imo.

They may be stronger on paper but on our day we can beat any of them...if we do meet Utd or Chelski in the next round...can only hope that if we do meet them we dont implode like we have done against them this season.

No, not even over one match. Gotta hope that both Milans pull something out of the hat and that we avoid the English ones if they do go through, in the next round.

Oddly enough, I'm never really sure about the two Spanish sides. We've been the very very light underdog in the past and we've done well.

I've just seen the highlights and I love how you portrayed this. I was expecting to see Arshavin and defenders going full pelt, not controlling his pace so that he could get some support and not lose control of the ball. Not saying it wasn't a good run by Eboue, but he was hardly the Flash.

Just to prove how completely wrong you are, on any clip of the run you will see Arshavin in our half, Eboue is not on the screen yet which puts him somewhere within our third, likely 5 yards outside of the box. Thats at 65.53 into the game, he goes across THEIR 18 yard box at 66.00, it took him SEVEN seconds to get from the edge of our box, to inside theirs....... no he's not the flash. Thats over 60 yards, in 7 seconds, that insane pace that only 4-5 players in the league could match.

Its utterly ridiculous to suggest going from edge of one box to the other in 7 seconds is not stupidly fast, the ball was deep in our half at 63.53, and in their net a hair under 10 seconds later, and Eboue came from about 20-25yards deeper than Arshavin.

As for teams we can beat, we won't beat Chelsea, Inter, Barca, would have a very hard time with Real because its players like Alonso and Diarra we have the most trouble with in midfield, Higuane and Ronaldo together will get goals between them almost without question and we don't have anywhere near the pace for anyone on the left wing to help get back against Ronaldo. Utd will deploy the midfield hacker against us, and I would say with the teams around that UTd might be about the easiest team for us to face. We've got no chance of the CL, beating an incredibly poor Porto team and smashing, Burnley, stoke and Sunderland in a row is hardly fantastic form, Liverpool were simply pants and our last 3 difficult games, Utd, Villa and Chelsea we were poor.

IN the last 8 in the prem league CHelsea have matched our form going through a rough spell and Utd have better form, us and chelsea have won 5, drawn 1 and lost 2 in the last 8. Utd have won 6, lost and drawn 1 each.

We aren't in better form than them, at all and Porto were by miles the weakest team left in the competition.

We want Man Utd so we can get revenge for last year. We will destroy them. DESTROY.

LOL as much as id like to see that happen...we didnt do it during the epl season....in fact they destroyed us and quite comprehensively as well.

The thought of it is nice but we dont have the mental ability to beat Utd and over 2 legs it will be very difficult.

Lol indeed.

The Emirates pitch is 123 yds apparently, which means supposedly Eboue ran around 82 yards (75m) in 7 seconds, or if he had kept running for 100m, he would have done the 100m in 9.33 seconds, beating the world record in the process.

That is pretty rapid to be fair, I'm not surprised only 4-5 players in the league would be able to keep up. :p

I think Arsenal should be favourites for both the PL & CL now, that's if the draw favours them of course.
They are in simply awesome form in the PL and have a doddle of a run in in comparison to both Chelsea and Man.U. who are both wobbly at the back and labouring.
I can't see Chelsea getting past Inter so that's one obstacle out of their way and it's only Barca (maybe BM) who should worry them in the CL over 2 legs.
They should win one of them anyway, might have a few bob on them really...

Arsenal have one likely goal scorer (in the EPL) and while he is easily one of the best players in the world he cant do everything, and they have a pretty weak defence , and without Gallas their defence is even worse than normal - so they are likely to concede even more

No chance are they favourites for the CL - seriously the men in white coats are coming for you if you truelly believe that :D

:/

Arsenal have a ridiculous amount of potential scorers, Diaby, Fabregas, Bender, Arshavin, Rosicky, Nasri, Walcott all chip in with goals weekly. I've seen some stats which say that the goals are spread throughout the team more so than any other team.

Seems an odd thing to say coming from a Man Utd fan, no offence, but Rooney can't do everything either

Also last night was a sparkling performance without Gallas, Fabregas or RvP. It shows that Arsenal do have a fantastic squad. imo there was no difference in the performance with or without Fabregas, Nasri and Rosicky made up for his absence

Well it isnt Utd either;):p....i would say its probably Barca as the slight favourites for the CL...dont think Real are anywhere close to being favourites along with Utd and Chelski.

Note the only person saying Arsenal are favourites happens to be a Chelsea fan who has more than enough reason to try and jinx them ;) :p

Nowhere near favourites for the CL, I'd like to see us get to the semi's but this year I really want Wenger to concentrate on the league. We are hitting good form just recently and have the easiest run out of the 'big four'. It was a good performance offensively last night although you have to question if we made some of the mistakes last night against a top, top team then we'd have been punished for them no doubt.

A good result though that will give the squad mucho confidence going into the weekend and beyond hopefully, and the way it's going at the moment we are looking for a very tight finish to the league this season, I'm just hoping that Van Persie can come back much sooner rather than later, and that Wenger puts his hand in his pocket in the summer because I feel that a few good results does not mean we have strength in depth everywhere.

As for Eboue, he's been fantastic of late, as has Diaby and I'd like to see Eboue playing more in the position that Rosicky was in yesterday.
