English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

No, not even over one match. Gotta hope that both Milans pull something out of the hat and that we avoid the English ones if they do go through, in the next round.

Oddly enough, I'm never really sure about the two Spanish sides. We've been the very very light underdog in the past and we've done well.

What do Inter have to pull out? I'll be ecstatic if we get past them next week, I can't see it happening personally. Inter have improved a lot in the last 12 months and have to be favorites with Barca/Chels/Man U. AC will be out tonight, they're nothing like the force they were 5 years ago and I'm amazed how they managed to get 2 past Man U in the first leg.

They were much better than Man Utd in the first half and created several fantastic opportunities and should have arguably scored 2+ in the first half, they dropped off in the second half due to an obvious lack of fitness (how Arsenal beat them a few years ago).

Don't underestimate AC though, I'm almost certain Man Utd will grind a result out tonight but it's well within AC to grab a goal or two

It wouldn't surprise me to see AC Milan score first tonight. The prospect of Neville vs Ronaldinho keeps me up at nights. :p

We'll be missing Carrick because of the stupid red card so that will be a big loss considering how well he's played recently. If Rooney doesn't play at all, we'll possibly see the most defensive game ever.

A.C. Milan are a good side.

Ronaldinho can still turn in a world class perfromance, such a shame he's lost his mojo.

I think playing against Ronaldinho keeps Neville awake at night as well :p

Was glad to see Bendtner score a hattrick. Have rated him highly for some time so it was nice to be able to gloat to my mates who have said he is awful :p Seems disliking Bendtner is the most fashionable thing to do, rather than basing it on anything. He has a lot of qualities to his game that he isn't given credit for.

My mate put £10 on him scoring a hattrick at 40/1. Quids in.... Lucky git.

Arsenal have one likely goal scorer (in the EPL) and while he is easily one of the best players in the world he cant do everything, and they have a pretty weak defence , and without Gallas their defence is even worse than normal - so they are likely to concede even more

No chance are they favourites for the CL - seriously the men in white coats are coming for you if you truelly believe that :D

I said if the draw favours them.
They've struggled against the other 2 English sides this season and as I can't see Chelsea getting past Inter that leaves Man.U. who I think Arsenal are very capable of beating over 2 legs, now.
Bordeaux, Olympiakos, Sevilla & CSKA won't worry them so that just leaves Inter, Barca, BM and RM/Lyon.
We should've killed Inter but missed the boat, their defence is shaky and only works when they park the bus.
RM could easily go out to Lyon tonight.
Barca and BM are the real threats I think but if Arsenal can avoid them 'til the final they've got a great chance.

Real have being unbelieveable at home recently, Llyon are a good side though.

I don't know about Arsenal, I think everyone is just creaming over them because they beat a very poor side by 5 goals at home. Lets not get too carried away.

That is pretty jammy.. and stupid at the same time. I'd never put 10p on him to score a goal, let alone 3 in one game.

I think people are creaming over them because despite being ruled out of the title race on no less than two occasions this season they are still up there with a good chance of winning it and as for the Champions League you can only beat what is put in front of you.

He isn't one of my smartest friends. But his gamble certainly paid off :p

They always bloody end up winning though. A friend of mine once put £10 on Forssell scoring first away at Chelsea at 20/1 and £5 on Birmingham winning 3-2 at 125/1. Forssell scored first, netting him £200 and Chelsea won 3-2.. thank god it wasn't the other way around :o

Who has ruled them out?

The media are unable to make their mind up, and shock horror adjust their view on the title race to results in the league.

When Arsenal have played Manchester United and Chelsea and were well beaten, they were really taken apart last year in the Champions league by United as well.

I think there are teams in Europe that could beat Arsenal, same goes for the league.

Lets not get carried away.

Yeah, the thing which makes it good is there's loads of teams that are comfortably beating Man Utd and Chelsea too. Nobody is getting carried away, everybody knows it's open and it all depends on form/injuries between now and then. If Rooney is out for any amount of time it can all swing around again.

The rumour is that Gallas is being asked to take a 20k a week pay cut to get a 2 year contract at Arsenal because of our utterly pathetic over 30's contract rules, that has cost us time and time again, while we're happy to offer Silvestre a 2 year contract and pay almost a million to sign him.

Meanwhile Ranieri who Gallas likes a lot and bought him at Chelsea, is apparently trying to sign Gallas for Roma who are doing very well since Ranieri took over. :(

I can't see Gallas staying though he might stay till the end of the season and see if we win a trophy before choosing where to go I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave. Frankly I think Wenger's over 30 policy is retarded and Gallas should have been offered a real contract, he's a truly fantastic player and frankly could have stayed at Chelsea or gone to a variety of teams where he could make a shedload more than he's being offered at Arsenal. 60k a week we're apparently offering him, a Spanish club could offer him 50k a week and he'd have a much higher take home salary after tax. Real Madrid will be in the hunt for a CB I'd imagine this season aswell as plenty of others, he's a steal at 80k. Theo ruddy Walcott is on close to 60k a week, barely plays and is useless and Wenger thinks offering Gallas, one of our best players, 60k is a fair deal?

Thought you were 2-1 up for some reason.

everyone geared up for this evening then? Think it should be a corking game. I'm going to predict another fairly high scoring match, with united edging it 3-2 again...
