English League Cup Third Round 21-22 September **Spoilers**

All of the games tonight resulted in the winners coming back from a goal down! Random.

I'm glad Villa got off to a winning start with new management :) heskey lol who cares. I think young may well emulate his first season for us this year he's certainly coming out of milner's shadows nicely. Lets just hope we can hold on to him if he does!!

Yes! Genuinely happy we are out! Can focus on competitions that actually matter now. I can understand how the league cup is very important for some teams but for Chelsea...meh!

About as gracious in defeat as a Chelsea fan will get.

I actually feel sorry for Roy. I think he's a good manager and a nice guy, I just can't understand his line of thinking or what he is trying to do with the Liverpool team.

Looks like a few of the senior Liverpool players that played tonight might not get another look in anytime soon.

:(

I think he's talking about Babel in particular. It says a lot about Babel's performance when he's subbed off for a CM just after we go 2-1 down.

edit: and the BBC interview more or less confirms that.

No one can. I think most fans would've hoped to see an improvement from last seasons finish but he's managing us like our main aim is to avoid relegation.

I hope so. Would hate to see the likes of Agger and Lucas frozen out because of a poor team performance tonight.

I'd be surprised if either of those have got anything to worry about purely on todays performance (their worry is that Hodgson thinks Skrtel/Carra and Poulsen are better than them), they were 2 of the better players.

Babel was Babel; a total waste of space. The comment about players being bought in for a lot of money and not feeling they've had a fair chance until now made it pretty clear it was Babel who he was aiming those comments at.

edit: 1 comment on todays selection though. I mentioned it earlier in the thread but why the **** is Spearing playing ahead of Shelvey? Spearing has no hope of ever making it at the club, yet he's preferred to Shelvey who's got the potential to make it at the club and is arguably better than Spearing now.

Every time Liverpool step on the pitch I worry about what the result will be. :(

The final hammer blow to this whole sorry situation could be Hicks retaining sole ownership.

Gustov returns to the football forum for the first time in about 735 months and immediately gets his knickers in a twist and argues with everyone. Ace.

:D:D alwasy ace seeing Gustov get wound up...i enjoy his little battles with Gimp:p

Feel for Liverpool and their loss last night, they just arent getting anywhere and my fiancee is a liverpool fan so shes pretty upset.

Chuffed that Chelski and City are out...Mancini is clueless absolutely clueless and i cant see him lasting too long if he doesnt get some good results soon.

Managed to get myself in to the library today for my internet fix, internet at my house comes next Tuesday, I am very excite :D

Anyway, some fantastic results there, Liverpool  I do also feel sorry for Roy but he's just obviously doing something horribly wrong with the Liverpool side. His interview on the BBC site is pretty funny though, so blunt and negative :p

How is he clueless? i would rather beat Chelsea on saturday then play the full team against west brom....all of our 'backup' players are injured eg Richards,Lescott,Bridge,Ade (supposedly),Balotelli,Nimley,M Johnson and Onouha is on loan so he had no choice but to play youngsters, but now we have a big injury crisis at the back and it looks like Barry is going to be LB against chelsea :/

The interview I got the quote from is on the Liverpool website.

Was he ever this negative at Fulham syke?

Sometimes, but generally always justified. That team still should have rolled them over, manager less. The problem with Hodgson is the training methods, it took Fulham about 4-6 months to adjust, and even some Fulham fans were calling for the sack (shortly after saving us from relegation), due to the slow start. It just takes time. But some of the comments by Pool fans on SSN about his apology is laughable, saying why give it to someone who only had ONE good season at Fulham. The season before was just as good, and saying why they didn't get any big name players or managers - surely Liverpool fans must understand they can't attract the bigger names as much as they want. I was quite surprised they got Cole/Meireles.

The home results will start to show, however away might be a different story! It's hard for him jumping straight into the start that he has had, especially in the League, losing/drawing games in that hard run and already endless pressure on him.

Said that after the United defeat. We've got an easy run of games in October so we'll be in a better position to judge him then but he's going to have to win the majority of those games whilst improving the quality of the football or he'll continue to lose the fans at a rate of knots.
