English League & European Football [2nd Apr - 8th Apr 2010] **spoilers**

Berbatov, Fletcher, Park (lol) and Giggs all missing today. Being completely dominated in midfield, Chelsea retain perfect formation when they don't have possession and eagerly closing down each and every Man Utd player when they have the ball. Can't complain about the scoreline at half time. Something needs to be drastically changed for the second half. I'm getting incredibly tired of reckless challenges from Scholes and Neville, time after time they do it and usually in needless situations as well.

The two legitimate penalty calls, Park and Anelka should have been given. Although Park's would definitely have been the softer of the two. I think another possible transfer this summer would be to prize Arsenal's passing coach away from London because we sure as hell need to remind our midfield how to pass the ball. :p

It is a load of rubbish, you are 100% correct.

Completely the wrong line up to field against Chelsea, who are awesome in midfield, I mean, they are just steamrollering the United midfield who cant compete either with the skill or the physicality of the Chelsea players.
So they resort to hoofing it long, to one player, which never EVER works, for any side, ever, in the history of football.

The game is lost with this line up, in this formation, with these tactics.
He needs to drag any two of Giggs, Neville, Scholes, Berbatov, Park off, and go 4-4-2 either with Park upfront with Berbatov, or Macheda up front with Berbatov, or Giggs up front.
He needs to get some passing going in midfield, because as it stands, if he changes nothing, there is no point in coming out for the second half.

If we go 4-4-2 This will be the ass raping of the Century

I love this from Man U fans week in, week out, anything that doesn't go perfectly and they all know better than Fergie... the greatest manager they've ever had :D

I doubt it, they are doing nothing in midfield, and chelsea are barely breaking a sweat dominating the game.
He has a couple of choices:
He does nothing, and Chelsea just sit there as they are doing now, laughing at us.
He changes one of the midfielders and continues to offer Berbatov no support, and the result is the same.
He changes things wholesale and it might make a difference.

Well to be honest, usually when things don't go right it blatantly highlights the weaknesses on the field. That first half was shocking and I don't have to be a football manager to know that. :p

If Spurs can pick up 3 points today then Harry is a serious miracle worker. We need someone like that because we seem to be jinxed.

Huddlestone, Dawson and Palacios seem to be out for todays clash, added to our already extensive injury list we really are stretched paper thin :(

--------------Gomes

Walker----Kaboul------Bassong----Ekotto

Kranjcar------Livermore----Modric---Bale

-----------Eidur------Crouch

I'd be happy with a point today I think.

I won't be. Not with Man City's run-in.

It's not knowing better than Fergie, I didn't school in the house of atpbx who slates his every formation or Drunkenmaster who slates Wenger. However the fact is the team line up is not balanced. What role does Park have in the team today ?

So with a central 3 we are being bullied by there 5. So going to a central 2 is going to make us better how exactly

Because we are not playing through the midfield now and there are five of them.
The ball is by passing the midfield entirely going forward.
Play the wingers, put on another striker and at least try and build some offensive pressure.
Two strikers tie up all the defence, two wingers stop the full backs being quite so adventurous, 4 offensive players offer more options than one.

No that still does not work !!!!

We need players to hold and retain the ball to pass to the wingers

Your argument is flawed

No.

The midfield aren't doing enough.

To be fair they're rarely amazing but what Man Utd usually have is a rampant Rooney doing the running of two men and constantly making himself available and then picking up the ball and making something. They just don't have that. Man Utd's midfield haven't been particularly creative all season, it's not just today.

It's still not down to missing Rooney.

Manchester United aren't a one man team.

Today, the midfield hasn't being good enough there is nothing coming from the midfield.

That's what football fans do, talk about their performance, when it's terrible they think of possible solutions to improve it  I don't think anybody here thinks they can step into Ferguson's shoes and do a job

Also, as great as Ferguson is he's definitely capable of the occasional tactical blooper, as is every manager.

What I'm trying to say is that's been the case is lots of games this season but Rooney's goals have glossed over that 'cos he's been that good. No hiding from that for the rest of the season though, I said from day 1 that Man Utd needed a creative central mid, it's been obvious in loads of their games

Btw this is cringeworthy from Mike Dean, he's just so terrible.

Noticed Fergie has switched to 4-4-2 yet?

He has pushed Park right up top with Berbatov?

Oh look things are a hell of a lot better................
