RVP was good, his touch and passing idea's were great when he was on, but it wasn't just down to him, it was the system. 4-5-1 sucked great balls against a semi decent team....... AGAIN.
The second we went to 4-4-2 even Diaby played better, infact every player still on the pitch (except Silvestre) played better once we switched to a 4-4-2. We do not have the players for 4-5-1, against pacey wingers/fullbacks our Nasri/Rosicky/Arshavins just don't have the pace, nor stamina, to run the wing right the way up and back all game long. For the umpteenth game this season both Rosicky and Nasri looked shattered by half time.
Where was Merida, he's a quality player, has bags of pace, can cross, has a left foot.
Diaby and Denilson were balls, moving Rosicky inside where he would have less running to do, Merida on the left would have been the best setup and might have given us a chance.
you HAVE to have a player with Messi/Henry/Malouda/Robben/Ribery pace and dribbling ability to play a 4-3-3/4-5-1, it DOES NOT WORK without it, we have no one with the dribbling or pace let alone both in one player.
RVP did look very decent though, the second you put two strikers up against the defence both strikers suddenly have half the people marking them, throw in a late midfield runner and you make space.
Sagna(he's been exactly as crap as he is now, since exactly two years ago when he came back end of his first season), Almunia, Sagna, Diaby, Denilson all HAVE to go with replacements for all before Arsenal can really challenge for a CL title.
EDIT:-Campbell was pretty impressive, again...... looks like when he's playing to get a proper contract, he can put the effort in still. Sagna was FAR more at fault for the goal than Silvestre, as Silvestre/Clichy held a good line, Sagna was so far out of position it was embarassing. Doesn't stop Silvestre's truly terrible distribution being awful throughout or being too slow, and stupid to play anymore.
