English League Football [19th - 23rd Feb 2010] **spoilers**

They should be fined for the state of the pitch. I think I saw Wigan's backline digging a trench and putting up barbed wire at one stage.

Its built a dump/marsh.
Head Groundsman Ian Forshaw and his team will get to work immediately after the game against Catalans Dragons next Friday.

The bulldozers will be working throughout the night to pull up the surface and then get the new turf laid as quickly as possible over the weekend and into the following week.

A new fibre-reinforced lokturf will be laid on the entire surface and Forshaw explained: “The growing season is just a few weeks away and this new surface will quickly become established.”

Bah 4th place is gonna be tight - just glad Spurs see Man City soon...

I really hope Liverpool dont make 4th moreso than Man City

So you hate them for no particular reason? Okay...

Well is there a reason you particularly hate Leeds? Or just to jump on the bandwagon with the usual stereotypes from years ago?

There are some teams that you just have a hatred for over time, it started a long time ago I don't really know why I do, I just do :)

I only said I hope Leeds stay where they are to wind you up and highlight the irrational position you have taken.

I honestly don't hate Leeds at all, they've been a great feeder club for Spurs. :p

I see, I always find it funny when you mention you hate a team then they instantly hate your team!

Don't take it personally :D

I know 90% hate Leeds, I'd hate everyone if I went on hating their teams too!

Not taking it personally, I just find it funny that people use such a strong word as hate for such trivial reasons.

Dirty Leeds... ;)

Doesnt the hating Leeds theme stem from the Don Revie era, people have just grown up with it.
I dislike some Leeds fans from visits to Elland Rd but that can also be applied to many other clubs.

Jeez just watching the Liverpool game on Sky!

How has masch not being sent off?

Dull game, but Liverpool getting away with murder, that push on Adbe was just lol worthy.

Yeah I cant believe Masch didnt get sent off - though we would have all missed his completed side passes for rest of the game :p...

Liverpool get another lucky draw - though for us it was important Man City didnt win...

BTW How was Torres' spell on the pitch? Didnt see him on the highlights - hoping he gets back to match fitness soon - only reason to watch a Liverpool game nowadays :(...

Torres didn't get much of the ball and was up to his usual tricks, over aggressive fouling as a lone striker. He really is a filthy git, I don't think anyone in the prem is so dirty and sneaky about it. Mascherano isn't a great tackle and is partially just over enthusiastic and throws himself about fouling a lot, Torres kicks out at people constantly, barges into people with every ball up the field, throwing himself to the floor with no contact.

I'm sure loads of players are just as sneaky and bad, but he constantly gets away with it, to the point he actually thought he shoudln't have had a freekick against him for the most blatantly obvious shoulder barge with no intention of getting the ball, and talked himself into a yellow. Fair point though, he gets away with that constantly every game he plays, harsh to call a foul on him for one of his first of the game :p

honestly though, the game was dead, a complete stalemate of two teams without enough guile to create a chance throughout and by the time Torres came on, everyone had long since given up really trying properly.

Flicking between too many games, missed both penalty calls(one each end apparently), flicking past MOTD I saw the Ade shove in the box, such an obvious penalty, not sure if Liverpool should have had one or not.

Frankly, no one deserves 4th spot this year.

City did deserve it with almost all out attack football, if Tevez gets back and plays well and Bellamy stays fit maybe we'll see it again. Spurs are so inconsistant and poor way to often, Liverpool are dull and not good enough and Villa, if they played all out attack every game they'd have a great shot and deserve it, but wimping out of far to many games and playing for draws has made for some insanely poor games. Its like no one wants it this year.

Hmm, actually Everton on recent form, and the way they are attacking, you never know, if they hadn't started the season sooooo badly, they'd be right up there already.

It was pleasing to see Benayoun stay on his feet in the area yesterday. I realise that if I was a Liverpool supporter I'd have been screaming at him to go down, but it at least demonstrates that some players are still dedicated to actually scoring instead of rolling about on the floor.

Some debate over just how far offside Defoe was.

Someone said that the red line is correct. I've added the blue line and although not perfectly parallel, is the correct line to determine offside, right? And so, Bale did NOT beat his man and Defoe was a country mile offside.

Is there really debate? Defoe was offside and he knew that even if the linesman didnt...

Soz re-read :p. Im sure there was 'daylight' between him and last defender when Bale crossed...

P.S. Where was the ref? In any position to over-rule the goal?

Can't remember where the ref was. The only explanation for the linesman not giving it is somehow thinking Defoe was behind the ball when it was played, which he clearly wasn't.

Im still really ******* off about the Everton result - not because there were any dodgy decisions (there werent) , not because Everton didnt deserve it (they wanted the result 100% more than Utd on the day), but because of the whole Utd team not having the fire in their belly to really fight for a result which in all fairness they really needed to attempt to continue the fight for the league title this season

I always hate Everton games at GP - mainly because Rooney rarely shows up in the right manner (I guess to an extent understandably) but also because they really put up a real fight most of the time - occasionally Fellani in the near past has been a little over zealous in some regards, but otherwise no complaints at all (and of course he wasnt even playing on Sat)

Everton clearly deserved the three points, but thats basically kissed our chances of winning the EPL goodbye - even if we do manage to win all our remaining league games (incl against Chelsea and Liverpool which are anything but gaurenteed) I cant see Chelsea dropping any other points easily unless they have some suspensions /injuries that arent evident at the moment
