English League Football ** spoilers ** [13th - 16th August 2010]

Disappointed, but plenty of positives to take away from it and perhaps a realisation that our current choice of strikers maybe isn't up to the job when the game is there for the taking.

Will take that. Spurs have not strengthened yet were much better than City bar Hart.

City will not finish top4.

It is the results vs. the likes of Wolves/ Blackpool/ Newcastle that count , we dropped a lot of points in 'easy' fixtures last season.

Not bad considering it is the same team from last season as opposed to City's spending again.

Exactly- considering City had £45m worth of purchases in their team today I think Spurs did pretty well (even if they should have scored)

(thats not even considering Tevez starting along with whoever else from last year)

Solid start

Would Bellamy be an upgrade on Keane? He's got more pace, other than that they're pretty similar?

Who else? :(

From playing ability / last season's form I would say so definitely

From how much potential disquiet Bellamy could cause in the Spurs dressing room, I wouldnt touch him with a bargepole just as definitely if not more :)

City will not finish top4.

.

First couple of games means little imo - a few seasons ago Man Uts had one point or something after 2 or 3 games and still won the league

Not to mention some of the new aquisitions not yet playing for City, or expected to sign soon

it will take time for the players to gel.

i expect city to finish above spurs, if thats 4th or not i dont know.

spurs with champions league football will really stretch their squad, city have a deep enough squad to play in 5/6 competitions with ease.

Spending doesn't allow you to have more players on the pitch and Spurs squad simply isn't cheap, theres plenty of things to take the mick out of with City and the money angle is the least interesting.

SWP is still utter crap, he's been crap his entire career, a few goals because he shoots too often doesn't make him good. Can't believe Mancini, the whole game the midfield was crying out for an Ireland type player, Yaya was particularly pathetic today, wimped out of a lot of tackles and wasn't strong, one run early in the second half he powered past 3 midfielders, and didn't try it again. Villa was terrible all game, and can't understand why he took Tevez, the only decent player in an attacking sense, off rather than Villa or the ever useless Barry and push Villa back to left wing. The team, like all of last season, needs one less holding midfielder, one creative spark, and to sue SWP for impersonating a footballer.

Villa ???

Silva surely!!!

I don't really like Bellamy's attitude, that is the problem. He seems to stir up trouble where ever he goes.

I think you're right, he is similar to Keane and i feel that we need a technical forward again as opposed to a target man. When we play up to a target man like Crouch, using long balls, we seem to fail.

Hopefully we can qualify for the Group stages and attract one or two players to take us to the next level and try to get 4th again.

It does allow you to have more depth in your squad though, City can field two teams that would beat most sides in the premiership, especially with Balotelli and Milner still to join.

Points dropped for Tottenham there, they should have won that but were denied by a great keeper and a weak right foot from bale. City need time to bond together as a team, when you change that many players you can't expect them to play well together instantly.

gah, I have no idea why I always think Villa, I see him and think David... then just more used to talking about Villa than Silva. :p

Silva was crap aswell then ;)

Yup, however, still only one team on the pitch at any one time. As for being able to play two entire sides that could beat most teams, I don't believe that, they've got a heck of a lot of over rated players left in their side.

Their B team would have, Onouha, Veira, SWP, Barry, an injured bridge, Zabaleta in it, thats the start of a team that almost any team in the premiership could quite easily beat.

So do we, as proved in the last few seasons with great cup runs as well as consistent league form.
