English League Football ** spoilers ** [13th - 16th August 2010]

Their B team would have, Onouha, Veira, SWP, Barry, an injured bridge, Zabaleta in it, thats the start of a team that almost any team in the premiership could quite easily beat.

No it wouldn't

Their defence that started today was:

Kolarov - Kompany - Toure - Richards

so that leaves

Bridge - Boateng - Lescott - Zabaleta

I still think that's quite a bit better than a fair number of teams in this league.

spurs were great in the first half no bias when i say they are one of the great teams of the prem for any neutral to watch. gutted we didn't score though and tbf to man city they did put a few things togethor in the 2nd half but a draw isn't a fair reflection but hey, that's football. don't know about dos santos on the right though, i'd prefer him centre behind the forward(s). quite apparent we need a fresh striker though!

Relatively happy with today...Hart was class as was Toure and Kompany....SWP looked lost as per usual and Silva and Tevez carried the teams attacking burden for the game....i expect to see Balotelli take Barrys place next week and see Silva drop to left mid and Balotelli and Tevez up top....as to Drunkenmaster...an ireland type player? so someone who is lazy, not interested in the team? we already have that in Ade.

After all that money spent, you are happy getting battered by Spurs for the majority of the game and then managing to craft a couple of half chances in the second half?

The only good thing about your team is your goalkeeper.

Just back from WHL. So happy that proper football is back. :D

Fantastic game. Spurs were absolutely breath-taking going football at times but Man City and Joe Hart in particularly stood firm. I also thought that Yaya Toure had a good debut for Man City. Broke up play well and passed it as well as you'd expect from a former Barcelona player. I was surprised that Man City took off Tevez towards the end. He easily looked like Man City's biggest threat and really worked his socks off. SWP looked awful though. His only contribution to the game was a bit of play-acting and a lot of moaning to the ref. Adam Johnson must surely be first choice from now on?

Spurs really picked up from where they left off last season though. Bale and Modric were both on top form and the Dawson/King combination at the back looked as solid as ever. Gomes was never really tested. Assou-Ekotto didn't have any silly moment and Huddlestone's passing was generally very good. Lennon looked totally off-form. He refused time and time again to take the RB on, even when Zabeletta was on a yellow card.

If there's one area Spurs need to strengthen, it's our strike force. Defoe was OK but Crouch was largely dreadful. We wasn't winning anything in the air and it was obvious that he doesn't have the pace to pressure defenders properly. Pav looked a bit better when he came on - two relatively tame shots and one excellent ball into the box.

Great game though. Roll on MOTD. :)

Agreed. One striker needs to go to make way for another. Preferably in the strong and pacey mould.

Wolves are battering Stoke apparently, so my Wolves mate has just said.

"Like Brazil the Wolves are" was the text message :D

Wigan LuLz :D
