Re: Aquilani. Good job we got him fit then, and over his injury problems at the end of last season where he strung a fair few games together, got a hell chunk of assists and a goal to his name. Just like he is doing this season.
Fact is, our medical team said it wouldn't be a problem. Rafa is no medic, he trusted them and they got it wrong in terms of time scale.
But they did fix him though, he couldn't string a set of 3 games together before he came to us.
And who knows, maybe Rafa would have got someone else if the funds he deserved had been available to him. And by that i dont mean the owners injecting cash, i mean allowing 100% of player sales to be re-invested. Because there was a huge gulf in terms of money in to money out over the last 2 seasons. Rafa only got about 45% it seems. It still bugs me to this day where the Keane money went?
And besides, why loan him out, and give the new team an option to buy, and then use a lame excuse like "he needs game time, we did this so he can be an important player for us next year".
Additionally, why bother loaning him out when we didnt even reach our foreign quota?
