English League Football ** spoilers ** [17th - 21st September 2010]

The only difference between Berbatov last year and this year, is higher goal scoring rate so far, I dread to think what fans will think of him when he plays as well but doesn't score every game like last year.

He was superb last year, touch, retaining posession, making the right choices to pass to the right people at the right time.

The biggest difference in goal scoring form is most of the team are looking to Berbatov first rather than Rooney for creating chances, largely because Rooney has been completely ruddy awful since the end of last season. Rooney's touch was awful today, almost every "control" resulted in it bouncing up into his legs or a yard away which just delays the next movement he wanted, his passing was truly absymal, maybe the one shot he had was really poor, crossing, very poor, just useless really.

If the whole team crosses/passes into Rooney and he scores a lot, Berbatov isn't getting a huge number of chances and as with all strikers, he missed quite a few of the ones he does get, when the whole team crosses/passes to Berbatov, the reverse is true, theres almost always one form striker everyone tends to try to set up for goals, and in doing so they'll score more.

Anelka managed to get 2 great goals last week without Drogba(I don't think he played) and when Drogba does play everyone focuses on Drogba, Anelka scores less.

Every other part of berbatov's game was outstanding last year, and better the year before, he had a MARGINALLY worse season last year, mostly fans are idiots and change their minds about a player every 3 games regardless of whats actually going on.

I can see why O'Shea wasn't sent off, cos VdS was going to get there first I think. Berbatov is in fact God, though.

Evans is still woeful :p use Smalling!

:D

I agree, he seems to drift through the game in a way. Don't know how to explain it. Don't think he has nearly enough urgency to make it as a PL CM

Poulsen looked ok in Italy because the pace of the game was much slower compared to the Premiership. Just seems half a yard off the pace of the game from what I have seen of him

I'm confused because I don't understand why you're so bitter. You've just won and you've won as many league titles as we have. Fair enough we're far more successful than you in Europe but we're not going to extend it this year :p

My bad BaZ and sincere apologies to any 'Pool fans if I have caused any offence as non intended and the 'friendly' banter got the better of me.

Bad hangover and the prospect of going to work with a house full of scouse crowing tomorrow after a 2-2 draw was too much. I wouldn't mind but out of all the scousers at work there is one who genuinely comes from 50 miles near Liverpool.

Not so sure, Torres has pace which the Terminator had issues with in the past

Sar D V would have gotten to the ball before Torres, Torres still hasn't at any point looked "good" this season, including the World cup, where he was shocking.

What's happened to him?

Couple of things I reckon, the injuries/operations he had I think have taken their toll and I think he came back too quickly from them (kind of a Rob Jones effect). Also I think that he is frankly depressed and on a low, I suspect that deep down he actually wants to/wanted to leave the club as things appeared to be going downhill/backward, a bad personal world cup didnt help with that and now with the whole ownership thing too.. As Berbatov (and Rooney of late) has shown today, strikers generally need to feel good about themselves/future/club to play to their best and I think Torres is a long long way from that.

Torres is suffering from playing 3 succesive seasons along with very little summer break.

He had the one moment of skill this game, where he beat about 4 players :D

Not to mention he got us the penalty and the freekick

I think Tombstone's hit the nail on the head, it's a generalised malaise from a number of factors. still a great player and he'll come through it.
