I don't get why, he only played somewhere in the region of 120 minutes in total at the World Cup and then had a long holiday, he did take a knock earlier though so maybe it's better to take him off as a precaution. We are looking better going forward but I'd still like to see Diaby off for someone else. I think Wilshere is on the bench and Ramsey due a return soon.

My sentiments exactly. With no pre-season and virtually no game time in the world cup he should the most rested player we have. He may lack some match sharpness but his fitness should be top notch.

I liked him a lot during his first spell with us. Sure, he made mistakes, but what defender who comes to a new club doesn't in his first few weeks?

I did too, he was made a bit of a scape goat, but he was only 21-22 or so!

End of last season when we started to see him being played on the right I was very impressed. Not only is he another man mountain who is good in the air, he is actually bloody quick and pretty good with the ball at his feet.

Could he overtake Corluka as the preferred option? I think it's close.
