English League Football ** spoilers ** [27th - 29th August 2010]

FFS! Chamakh, run you bloody idiot... Slowed the play down too much at a 3 on 1 opportunity, if he sprinted Walcott and Wilshere were both available to the left, could've been 3-1 and game over... Jaysus.

2-1 FT

terrible to leave it so late, one little mistake and that could have been horrific. Overall a good performance and a win is a win! Defence still an issue and our inability to finish games off is still concerning.

Yes! 3 points in the bag, totally dominant for virtually the entire match, although Blackburn looked dangerous on the counter. Good performance but there are still some things that need to be looked at. I'm pleased that we weren't pushed around in the physicality stakes and apart from Koscielny I think everyone had a good game. We still need to start finishing those chances, we should have won by 3 or 4 goals, not a narrow 2-1 win.

Top of the league. :p

Awh! Almunia gave Walcott a kiss. :D

Squilacci to be prefer to Koscielny (sp?)?

At the moment I would say yes. Squillaci has played for some of the top European clubs and some of the best clubs in their respective leagues. He's experienced and is a pretty tough player. Koscielny is an unproven youngster who in my opinion is still pure potential, Squillaci and Vermaelen have to be the first choice, Koscielny looks to be a bit error prone, nothing major, just things that will come with experience but I think he's a player we should look to be giving a start against bottom half teams, definitely not a starter in his current form, and definitely not against a tough Blackburn team at Ewood.

I'll happily take the result.

However there are still some points to be asked about this side.

RvP went off injured again. As said, Wenger really needs to start thinking about cashing him in. I don't accept having a 'great' player for a few games every season. It's a waste of wages, and of course if he's not even on the training pitch then what does he offer his juniors? Chamakh looked a little quiet, but I did see him getting in there when having to defend back. Walcott really is quite the confidence player. I saw a couple of snazzy runs that he just wouldn't have done last year. Arshavin decided to drift into this game, not just with his goal, but his attempts to go forward. Diaby as ever didn't really impress, and Clichy I felt at times was a bit wanting as well.

It was a combo of Kos and Clichy for their equaliser. I don't know why Kos didn't slide the lad on the wing, and not for the first time, I have little idea what Clichy was up to in the box.

Puh. 2 centre backs pretending to be full backs again, instant fail.

Looks like it'll be a 4-4-1-1 with Walters behind Jones - didn't think Jones would be ready. Wilko on the right to cut out Cole's runs methinks.

Delighted with the 3 points, we defended really well and didn't get bullied at all. Thought Diaby in the centre of the park was the man of the match, he was excellent.

Fabregas looked off the pace and short of match practice, and that was perhaps why we weren't that fluid going forward.

also Blackburn kicking van Persie til he was injured is disgusting.. but it failed to affect the result so hahahaha

Twisted ankle for RvP. That's normally a week or two. I expect RvP will be back for not this international, but the next one where of course he'll get injured again.

Another thing, why is it our players can never seemingly hit balls that go across them. Yes, I appreciate it's a hard skill, but Arshavin and Rosicky both today reminded me of them skying chances like this last year.

I hate fantasy football. I should want Chelsea to lose today, but with three of their players in my team, including two of their defenders, can't really afford that!

EDIT: Argh, Cole's one of my defenders. Score you silly silly fool.

You cynic! Give him a chance this season and then we'll talk about selling him, what you can't deny is that when he's fit he is one of the best, he set our first goal up with an excellent pass and he showed some good play and always looked to create space for himself. I think it's more than one or two games he plays as you say, but I think you're just ****ed off so I won't go on and on about it.

I think Rosicky needs to start placing his shots more instead of going for full power, he's got a very powerful peg on him and he needs to work on placement a bit more in my opinion, no excuse for Arshavin I think he just bottled it. Wilshere should have buried his but he's only a baby so I'll let him off. I'm far from happy with the performance, but three points are three points, two wins and a draw from our first three games is something I'm happy to take.
