English League Football ** spoilers ** [30th October - 2nd November 2010]

lol, it was hilarious, stone wall penalty for which Kaboul was going as he was already on a yellow but also denying a clear goalscoring chance, probably second yellow though which would haved saved Spurs no fit CB's arses.

NO idea how the penalty wasn't given, he clearly handled it, got NO idea what the linesman was waving the flag for, could have been for penalty or handball, was it clear?

Either way, the ref didn't give anything, why on earth Gomes doesn't kick the ball I don't know.

Of course I was thinking surely given the choice you'd prefer a quick counter attack but if he actually thinks its a freekick you can't just choose not to take it. However, with no whistle, as always, play to the damn whistle.

Gomez, idiot, Kaboul, idiot, Ref mega idiot, linesman, idiot, Nani massive idiot.

The only thing I can't quite tell is, Kaboul had his hands all over him, and pulled his shirt, he knocked him off balance so I can see him going down a couple steps later, but it looks VERY close to Kaboul also catching his trailing leg, none of the angles really focused on that though, did he clip his foot aswell?

Please. Ferdinand was there for the entire duration of the officials 'discussion' without a single spurs player within 15 yards.

To be fair, Ferdy was calm, he wasn't shouting at either of them, he wasn't making a tit of himself, he wasn't pushing either or backing them up, or intimidating them, he didn't wave his hands around like he just didn't care, nothing.

Spurs guys around him were shouting, backing him up, basically doing everything Ferdy wasn't doing. Of all the many times to complain about them getting in ref's faces that wasn't one. I don't see why players can't listen in, its not a private conversation, they aren't hiding anything, they just wanted to talk it out, Ferdy wasn't stopping them, the Spurs players were, infact I thought the ref was VERY lenient he didn't card at the very least Modric after they went back to the linesman, maybe Bale and the other one aswell, most other games one of them would have been carded then and there, and the ref was an idiot for not.

A card would have probably shut them all up, instead they went after the linesman for ages and then Modric continued after the ref yet again when he was finally carded.

Clattenburg is a tool, but end of the day it should have been penalty, red for Kaboul, and 2-0, so Spurs got off lucky IMHO.

What was the linesman doing? He didn't flag until the goal went in, what does he think he's flagging for?

So is Nani an idiot because he was quick witted enough to realise that it wasnt a free kick? Or that he thought he was fouled for a penalty? I cant work out which TBH.

Yet another clueless linesman. The penalty claim before that was a penalty anyway, Nani was pulled down. Yes he is a bit of an arse and yes he does go down dramatically, but that changes nothing.

The second goal was a goal, yes there was a handball but the goalkeeper picked it up so it was 'safe' at that point, then he fluffed it.

Well done to Nani :)

Got me confused too.

I can understand some sort of complaints from Spurs had the lino flagged for the handball and the ref not given it but the lino's not done anything until after the goal.

A catalog of errors from the ref, silly play from Gomez but ultimately justice was done as Utd should have had the penalty.

The way he flags is odd too, he holds the flag high as if flagging for offside? If he was flagging for the handball it'd be a waved flag isn't it?

Again, i dont want to play the 'my team are hard done' by card. But i can name 100's of incidents where we never got a pen for what everyone is claiming Nani should have got one for.
Never seen it given.

Man Utd have had plenty of those incidents too, as have nearly every team.

You need a bit of luck with some things and it does often depend on the linesman/refs view of things.

Ah yes Harry, ignore the fact it was a penalty and call for Nani to be booked, you lemon :p

Watching back on Sky+, Gomez asks the Ref if its a free kick and the Ref nods.
Ref is apparently saying he was nodding to Nani's question can he play the ball.

Even though Nani wasn't technically wrong in scoring the goal, it shows a really really bad lack of sportsmanship... Manchester United were pretty likely to win anyway

Bad sportsmanship? Nani looked at the referee and he told him to play on, so he put the ball in the net.

Get over it.

You both know exactly what I mean... Just because you are allowed to do it, it doesn't make it right. Football generally lacks sportsmanship, so maybe you are just too blind to see that it is wrong... Nani clearly hand balled it, and Gomes wrongly thought it was a free kick, as did almost everyone else. Nani took advantage of the referee's inability to keep the rules of the game. i.e. As a striker, you shouldn't be using your hands to control the ball in open play.

And stop being a patronising idiot

One of those confusing question/answer situations.

I had one today:

"What milk would you like, blue or green top"
"Yes"
".."

:o:p

Utterly laughable posts, you've lets get this right, NEVER seen a penalty given for a tug on a shirt that knocks a player off balance as he's trying to shoot....... NEVER. I'll just type it again incase you missed it, you've NEVER seen a penalty given for a player being pulled back.

Seriously I just can't get past how stupid that is, given for corners where two big CB's are pulling each other all over, not often given but certainly have been. But from open play, someone running past a player being clearly tugged back, they are given MORE often than not.

As for poor sportsmanship, even more laughable, I guess it was also poor sportsmanship that Kaboul or Gomez with perhaps the best view of the incident on the pitch didn't go over to the ref to let them know it was a penalty.

Penalty incident CAUSED the handball incident, infact, if the penalty is given its not even a handball because he'd be expected to pick it up to put it on the spot.

The right call was a penalty, which 9/10 times ends up as a goal, Spurs took advantage of a poor referring decision before Nani did, so to blame Nani for doing the same is just, ridiculous.

Not unless the player goes down under it, no. Never.
Let me say it again incase you missed it.
Never, never, never and never

Nani went down way to late, was never going to be given.
