SO actually attempting to play football on a football pitch should get you banned for life....but brushing past someone and then punching them is not only ok...but to be expected?

In fairness to Barton it's a bit ridiculous that he got a retrospective ban while Huddlestone and Henry's incidents have gone completely unnoticed, they were both arguably as bad as a one inch punch to the chest, iirc Huddlestone's boot went scarily close to Elmander's junk, nobody wants studs to the balls
 
Huddlestone wasn't playing the ball. The reason why he got let off and Barton didn't was because the ref saw the Huddlestone incident and thought it was unintentional, so no punishment could be given to Huddlestone.

Agree with this.

Barton deserves his ban, he still has real issues despite seemingly improving, but a lot of the time I get the feeling that he is hit (oh the irony) when others are not. Nit so much Henry but certainly Hudd.
