English League Weekend Football 16-18th January *spoilers*

Really didn't think Bolton were that dirty today and they played a much better style of football than usual.

Good three points for us thought and hopefully same result midweek will see us up into second.

Over half the time Fabregas got possession he was fouled late, after the ball had gone, and he see's a hell of a lot of the ball, so that's a lot of fouls. I thought the way the ref just ignored them all was poor. He only yellow carded that filthy stamp on his ankle, the rest was fair game apparently

Gald we came out of that with a win and no injuries! They came out the blocks flying and i thought we were going to suffer from new manager syndrome. Could have been slightly higher scoreline for us though, first pen was hit and miss but the second was pretty obvious. Plus Cesc should have scored that one with his left 6 yards out. Think that was 2 assists for Eduardo, hopefuly he'll start scoring soon or i can't see him getting much game time long term. I think Vela will be much more useful to the team when he gets a few games under his belt. Expecting a comfortable win mid week which could see us top of the table!

Agree with that. I don't know what's happened to Eduardo but since the injury he's a different player, he just hasn't rediscovered his dangerous side and killer instinct that he had before the horrific leg break.

Eduardo, despite not scoring lately has been instrumental in our play-making up-front.

It'll be a good day when he finds that spark again, but at the moment, I have absolutely no qualms about him continuing to be a first-team starter. On the days where Arshavin has been a little quiet, Eduardo is there. The only problem with Eduardo at the moment is that he seems to exhaust himself come the 70th minute.

How on earth hasn't Ashley Young's constant diving been picked up by the media? The guy is far and away the biggest cheat in the league.

Just because he's better than any winger you've got :p

Seriously annoyed we can't beat **** teams like Wet Sham, did laugh when listening to 5live, Robbie Savage took a clearance right in the face in the commentary box :D

We were average - more poor though than Liverpool or Spurs yesterday :(

Should have maximised the opportunity to gain ground - Gaby needs a good game to settle (again) as hes been pretty awful in front of goal with chances no ST should miss (seemed to either have a bad first touch or just too much time on the ball). The team played ok, just never buried the decent chances we had. Fair play to West Ham they made it very hard, but we shouldnt be dropping points to them...

ps3ud0

came in to post a link, shame theres no footage as of yet, guess Soccer AM might be worth a watch when the 3rd eyes are on and hope someone caught it on camera.

Didn't someone laugh at Spurs chance of getting 4th as they are great one game and crap the next, then stated City and Villa were the ones to watch for 4th?

Fabregas was yet again immense today, Eduardo is still making mistakes and fitness wise doesn't look quite there, but he's also playing half out of position, he plays well with someone alongside him, he's ALWAYS looked better in a 4-4-2 up front with a Bendtner/RVP behind him, than either on the left or up front on his own. His finishing in the last couple games when he did miss a few poor chances seems more confidence based as we know he's a great finisher, but the system isn't suiting him and he seems to not have the pace he used to, though that could just be down to fitness aswell.

Traore was absolutely absymal again today, with multiple options, a pass down the line, belting it, a simple pass to Vermaelen he'd instead choose to do a trick to go around whoever was marking him, and failed every time. Got past their right back a single time in the whole game, for an offensive winger/wingback he's offered absolutely nothing going forwards in any of his games. Considering Silvestre might be called upon to cover for our CB's in case of an injury, not giving him the chance to stay match fit seems madness, especially with Traore so absolutely terrible.

Wonder if after another single game half the Arsenal fans opinion of Merida has turned around again, classy control and simple well executed finish. Thats what his game is, central midfielder late into the box to get those types of goals, good passing and interplay with Cesc, won a couple tackles, killed time quite effectively when we started doing that, needs games but could be very important to us in the future.

Did anyone notice that it was Fabregas who actually sat deeper and more central than Diaby after Eastmond went off, took the commentators about 10 minutes to notice and point out that it wasn't Diaby who dropped into the DM role as they assumed he would.

I'm confident about Wednesday given that it's at home and Clichy could start. I hope Bender will be back soon and we should have a few others playing on Wednesday who are in need of more games, such as Ramsey. I'd like to see Sanchez-Watt starting a game in the league soon, or maybe even coming on as a late sub. Last time I watched him play he impressed me.

Ramsey along with Nasri is out for 3 weeks :(

Sanchez Watt actually does seem to know how to time a run, but he's absolutely tiny, I can't see him doing anything in terms of out pacing and fighting shoulder to shoulder to get a shot off in the box, he's looked mostly poor in his bigger game appearances, with one half decent performance. Poor largely because of his size/stature for now, hopefully in a couple years he'll be far stronger.

Have a bad feeling Bendtner will get to within about 2 days from his next game before picking up another knock.

Arsenal are carrying Eduardo.

Bolton actually tried to play football at times yesterday and looked far better then normal. Didn't think they were too bad with the fouls, better then usual.

Was listening to the Liverpool game in the car, and you could just sense a goal was coming at the end from how the commentators were saying how deep we were playing.

Really don't know how they are going to turn things around. Rafa promising top 4 finishes as well, I hate to think what happens in the summer if we fail to reach that goal. As much as I like him, if we don't achieve that then surely he must have the decency to admit defeat and leave.

Torres/Gerrard/Masch gone if we don't finish in the top four?

14 appearances this season. 3 goals 4 assists.

Edit, if that is 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games what's he done in the other 10 ?

Got used to playing football again after 2 years? He's starting to play well, but still lacking a yard of pace and a bit of strength. It's obvious he's getting there though at last

It's actually 6 goals in 14 games + 8 sub appearances, and he has had his 2 goals against Wolves removed, so 8 goals in 14 starts isn't a bad return in all honesty is it.

So he's scored 6 goals in 14 starts.

Then he's had 8 sub appearances on top of those 14. Which brings it up to 22 total appearances and 6 goals this season?

Edit, didn't know he was 26 thought he was a lot younger then that, well thought he was early 20's.
