I don't think many people appreciate just how fast those pre-war Silver Arrows (which is what Mercedes AND Auto Union were called, not just Merc!) were. They were used for land speed attempts in the Autumn time and would top 260mph down the Autobahns on these runs, seeing well over 200mph in races!!

Mind you Group C did have it's downsides - late 80s team photos!
