*EPIC THREAD* Major Problems with Coollaboratory Liquid Pro Thermal Compound DEAD CPU

How long does this stuff take to cure in open air? Would it be feasible to apply it to a heatsink and cpu seperately then heat them to flatten the liquid and leave them to harden...thereby having 2 perfectly smooth surfaces before putting the heatsink directly onto the cpu, or wouldn't that work.

Its hardens in ~48 hours. One guy killing his system by drowning his CPU and getting it on the socket pins doesn't make it dangerous, it just makes it not for noobs.

hi guys, we decided that delidded cpus were not a commercially viable option just yet.

I love this thread :D

What a superb thread, I'm annoyed I hadn't read this before hihihi.

I have cool labs liquid under my IHS and it works fine.

I do have to remind you that de-lidding will void the warranty.

Liquid Pro

I have a thin layer over my 2600K and just a small amount under the Antec Kuhler 620 copper block (in the centre). Been runnin sweet for 8 months or so 4.8GHz. Recently got a phantom 410 case and wanted to shift everything into new case. Strugglin to take off the block. Feels like its bonded together but I haven't really applied much pressure. Need to give it another go soon.

@irfy, twist it. It'll come apart under torsion. But you don't want to just pull on the block.
This, ive used this stuff for months now on a few different cpu's. An excellent product if you take the time to apply it properly. I couldnt go back to a conventional paste now.

Regarding just pulling it off after it's been on a while, great way of delidding an ivy or haswell cpu. No need for razor blades or hammers and vices.:D
