*EPIC THREAD* Major Problems with Coollaboratory Liquid Pro Thermal Compound DEAD CPU

i actualy did it the same as the guy in the review, and belive me i didnt use that much, i know what im doing. its very hard to controll but i did none the less. i used the q tips and the needle. have you ever used it ?

i saw your cpu, it was all over the contact points on the underside of the processor

you didnt apply the paste right or this wouldnt be the case

I've got a tube of that, used it years ago on my athlon xp 2500

worked fine, but my mum did think I was on drugs when she found a silver needle in the computer room :D

Yes, I've used it a couple of times, it's undoubtly one of the best TIMs you can use, but if you're regularly upgarding CPUs I wouldn't recomend it as it does make a mess of the top. Only something like Brasso and a lot of elbow grease will get it off and even then it leaves a noticeable silver stain on copper (which is it engrained into the surface cracks I would imagine).

No swearing, posting of "adult" material, personal attacks or "trolling"
You should look at yourself, I know quite a few people on various forums who have used Coolaboratory Liquid without screwing up like you obviously have.

Most have switched back to AS5 or MX-3 for ease of use.

Aren't the IHS on most CPUs aluminium?

I'd agree with the above tho I have very limited experience of it myself - but if you managed to get it all over the contact pins you must have been either using far too much of it or done something very wrong.

Ah that makes sense - I remember the copper showing through when lapped.

EDIT: Ah looks like some do use aluminium - mostly older CPUs tho - but something to bare in mind with this stuff.

i know what im doing

Apparently not? Maybe you should review your career choice?

im a qualified Support Technician, ive been doing this since i was 13, i have no less than 4 diplomas in hardware, network and software support. so take it from me when i say, this paste is CRAP.

How do you get a diploma in "hardware, network and software support" ???
