I'm betting these diplomas are probably the A+ and the like, which tbh any monkey can do..
Or maybe he's 14 and has online diplomas.

Over time it tends to cold weld the processor to the heatsink. It doesn't always happen, but occasionally it does. Should be removable through rotation when this happens, but pulling straight up isn't likely to work.

Aside from that I know no reason why it can't be used for years

I think you did yes. I must admit, that stuff does look deadly. Haha. But with anything, as long as you use it properly, I bet it's damn good stuff. I'll stick with my MX-3 I think.

How the hell you get TIM all over the CPU pins, I do not know. From the sounds of it, he used the whole tube. You got a photo of the CPU by any chance rjkoneill?

To be honest, I heard this all before giving support to folk like you on the phone, when in fact I've probably forgot more than you know. Another case of RTFM me thinks.

i was only trying to help the guy tbh
i can understand why he was annoyed, i would be annoyed to if i failed hard at installing my cpu and killed all my hardware
 
I think I'd be ashamed rather than annoyed personally. It's a bit like trying to change the tyre on a car and accidentally breaking all the windows.

My liquid pro has arrived. Turns out it's been here for a few days without me noticing, cheers ocuk. Wondering when I'll have time to get the waterblock to the lab to lap it now. I'll try to post before and after results with it.

I used this stuff a while ago (without pouring it in my CPU socket;)). Improved temperatures marginally over MX2, but was a bit of a pain to get the waterblock off the CPU. Its a gallium/indium alloy, which does indeed dissolve aluminium like there's no tomorrow.
