Am liking Launcher Pro, but REALLY missing not being able to select text / past whilst looking at emails which I used to be able to do under sense... :(

Also - anybody know how you go about adding applications / widgets to home screens without having any text under them?

*edit* never mind.. answered my own questions by playing about in the settings... now if only there was a way to get Friend Stream working with launcher pro

Won't be possible!

Best bet is something like Pure Messenger Widget. Not free though. :p

Has anybody been able to connect to andro web desktop when using a 3g connection? It works fine using wifi but can't find my phone when on 3g!

Is it possible.. dare I say it.. does anyone think the lag would be reduced with a rooted phone? I'm ttying. Launcher pro again but still no joy

If I did root and still had no luck would it be easy to go back to sense UI?

Watch out for the latest update to Switchpro widget.

Its been killing data and/or 3G for a lot of peeps. Seems like its just 2.2. Guys on XDA complaining about it, and the reviews on the market.

I just uninstalled it and my data is back working fine again....

Updated mine, no issues here. 2.1 on Hero.

Rooting makes no difference to phone speed/lag. Nor does it stop you using Sense. Installing a custom ROM may increase performance and not every rom comes with Sense, although a lot do.

So I pressume you are having lag issues?

Tried removing all the widgets for a while? Got thousands of txts/emails stored on the phone, because they can bog it down. A standard 1.5 phone may not be the fastest, but it shouldn't lag that much unless something is bogging it down. It's also possible that an app is hogging the CPU.

Anyone else been using subsonic?

Subsonic is a free, web-based media streamer, providing ubiquitous access to your music. Use it to share your music with friends, or to listen to your own music while at work. You can stream to multiple players simultaneously, for instance to one player in your kitchen and another in your living room.

Subsonic is designed to handle very large music collections (hundreds of gigabytes). Although optimized for MP3 streaming, it works for any audio or video format that can stream over HTTP, for instance AAC and OGG. By using transcoder plug-ins, Subsonic supports on-the-fly conversion and streaming of virtually any audio format, including WMA, FLAC, APE, Musepack, WavPack and Shorten.

If you have constrained bandwidth, you may set an upper limit for the bitrate of the music streams. Subsonic will then automatically resample the music to a suitable bitrate.

In addition to being a streaming media server, Subsonic works very well as a local jukebox. The intuitive web interface, as well as search and index facilities, are optimized for efficient browsing through large media libraries. Subsonic also comes with an integrated Podcast receiver, with many of the same features as you find in iTunes.

Based on Java technology, Subsonic runs on most platforms, including Windows, Mac, Linux and Unix variants.

Was using today over 3G when I was out and about , need to set up transcoding as I ate through 300mb of data! Really easy to use and setup. And the Android Client app is quite nice to use.

If that's the case I have no idea what's going on, there's no lag under sense but launcher pro lags qui te a lot

I also have issues with pure messenger widget
Sometimes it is just blank where there should be emails, then when it does and I tap on an email it just brings up a dialogue box with 'null' in it.. works every so often properly.. also my yr. No widgets time often gets stuck.. I can now see why Apple do so well, every thing works

Maybe there's a fault with your phone, sounds like you have a lot of issues =/

Everything has just worked for me since G1 Android 1.0, never had the kind of problems you're experiencing.

Can anyone help an android noob out.
How do i see how much memory my phone has left for installing apps etc?
How do i uninstall apps or is there a simple app that will do this for you?
How do i get my 2.1 android phone to update to Froyo when it is released?

1:

Go to Settings then SD Card & Phone Storage, it'll show available space

2:

GO to settings - Applications - Manage Applications. You can uninstall from there. Or you can install Uninstaller, which is a little quicker I guess.

3: Depends on your phone/provider whether it will be released over the air or not

Makamiso

I really like the Engadget widget and the Fancy Widget for Weather/Clock

Try:

  • Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage
  • Get AppMonster off the Market
  • Depends on the phone... if it has carrier specific branding e.g. HTC Sense you will be waiting a while for it. If you have a Google Nexus One, you should have/be getting the update soon. It should prompt you to update automatically. Alternatively, you can root the phone and install one of the many builds of FRF85 kicking about.

Cheers chaps

Also how do i tell how long i have been unable to get a signal for? I saw this once on my phone and have been unable to find it since - i seem to struggle for signal sometimes (known HTC legend problem)

Another thing i cant find! - Total call duration? this was just called log on my nokia.
For instance if you only have 100 mins to use each month how do you know how many you have used so far that month?

Just installed launcherpro, love it but one issue.

On the home screen, when i click the head shaped icon which i presume is contacts, it says this application is not installed on your phone?!

Ok seem to have sorted the incompatibility and lag issue, was using 2 beta phase widgets.. pure messenger in scroll mode, so now only in list mode.. and 3d app display so no lag anymore

Is there any good MULTI line rss news widgets.. also any stocks/shares widgets? These are now the only 2 things I miss off sense..

With launcher pro over sense I can still get to sense apps through the app tray.. I'm thinking about rooting.. is this still possible if I root?
