Essential Android Apps

Still needs notifications without the browser and chat, but it's a step forward. I don't even use chat though, so don't know why I'm complaining.

On other news, there is over 100k apps in the Android Market now!
Was 20k or so at the beginning of the year :)
 
About time they updated the facebook APP, lets hope they don't forget about it again :rolleyes:

Not got a notification yet so not sure if they have added push/if it works


Edit* And still no invite for the APP inventor :( I want to make an Android version of blackberry messenger dammit!
 
help please people

what task managers are there that can stop apps starting up automatically? there's a handful that just stay in memory and use the ocassional cpu cycle and i only use them once a day or so. a reboot clears them, but i don't want to do that.

and yes, i've read the blog from the android team re task killing. this is more like msconfig and stopping carp from starting automatically
 
task killers are needed for at least one valid (IMO) reason, controlling apps. amazons mp3 thingy has absolutely no reason to start with the phone.

apps also hang occassionally

anyways, i have a task killer that works fine, i just need something to control bootup apps

Use the Apps menu in settings to force close?
 
but you have to do that on each bootup for a few apps. it's annoying.

found autostarts. will check that out. have 24hrs to get a refund anyways :)
 
it is rooted, but i want the app. i just dont like apps that dont need to run all the itme, running without permission
 
Shame there is no way to send downloads via Chrome e.g. links to download ROM's other files.... A right-click "send to phone" would be good for this and things like pics etc....

p.s. I use Chrome browser so it might already be poss in FF ??

It is !

You can right click on just about anything and chrome to phone in FF

Its great if you see a funny pic or something and fancy MMS'ing it to a mate,

For example the OCUK logo at the top of this page, I can send link to phone, or just send image to phone

i had the same problem using beautiful widgets and yr.no had to change the home location from Stone to Stone, England and it works now on both
