Thanks for the info all about task killers, I've not updated my Galaxy S as kies software was trying to update with a patch and took almost a day to auto update i gave up and not used any software since.

& now i can get 3days without having to charge phone now that WiFi is disabled all the time thanks too a previous post a few pages back.

Just downloaded rockplayer, the playback performance on it is excellent, the default player was struggling to play back H.264 files without stuttering, rockplayer plays them back flawlessly. This is on my Desire.

anyone use any music application other than the stock one?

for some reason my phone can't seem to see any of the MP3's in folders on my SD Card (they can see them if they are on the root), but i've tried some random 3rd party music apps and they can see them ok. Just thought i'd look to see if anyone uses some other funky player

Well its on the link you posted but here is direct link - http://www.multiupload.com/F8HMHGVFDG

Cheers, works pretty well on my SGS. Like how it automatically starts 'Car Mode' when it detects my cars hands-free bluetooth.

I tend to use Cubed (3) Mp3 player. Really like it, quite customisable, different viewing modes, and by album/artist/song view mode as well as song queuing and allows you to download album art by manual search which is quite handy.
The locked phone widget which can be enabled is quite handy too, still gives you the time etc, but means you dont have to reopen the app when your phone screen switches off.

Only thing its missing is an equaliser.
Mixzing and Cubed are about the best mp3 players on android, I get fed up with Mixzing and its constant adds though, cubed just occasionally asks if you want to donate which is fine.
The author of Cubed has responded to bug emails I've sent him before too, which is quite nice.

I also use an mp3 tagger programme in tandem with Mixzing/Cubed as it means I can amend any dodgy MP3 id3 tags incase they're a bit funky, so the players read them how I want.

PS. Use cover flow rather than the default cube interface...the cube is a bit gimmicky.

My mate was watching the football live off ESPN on his iphone today, and he also has something called TV catchup which allows him to view a raft of TV channels.

Is there anything similar on Android? it's the only thing I envy from iphone!

I imagine you could just go to the tvcatchup website.. remember if 2.2 you can watch flash videos on webpages, so any that work on your pc will work on your phone.

EG: Iplayer, 4od itvplayer etc all work fine and with iplayer at least I know you can view live tv also.
