The problem is with copy-protected apps, so you will never see the problem! The apps in question will just never appear if you search the market for them. Try searching for Paypal, there should be an official app there.

This is true as well. It's not there for me :(.

I'm guessing it should only be a matter of months before this is sorted though?

Ahh right ok got ya...didnt know that.

Paypal doesnt bring up anything in the marketplace.

Thats a bit shoddy on googles part...hopefully they will rectify soon.

I found out about it by reading the post on the Android forums. It's a sticky there so it looks like people will update it when the Desire is authorised to view all the apps on the app store. Only copy-protected apps don't appear, but I don't know what percentage of apps on the app store are copy-protected? Anyone know?

Also found a link to this Google forum post which shows that loads of Desire users can't access the paid for apps that are marked as copy protected and shows why. Google need to approve each firmware for access to the app store and haven't done so as of yet. Basically means each time a new ROM is released for an android phone it can take weeks to be approved effectively meaning you will lose access to the apps again! SHOCKING...

i dont use all the functions of a smart phone, but at work i have use of the wifi, so thats where i get my apps, roms and check all my other accounts, i do sometimes check twitter at home, but i have a daily usage which never gets used up.
 
Can anyone recommend a decent weather app which doesnt destroy my battery power and is accurate, with a decent widget?

Using the Weather app at the moment and according to that it was foggy and 0 degrees this morning where I am. Whereas outside it was damn warm and blazing sun shine.
 
how do you get swype working...i've installed it but cant access it - phone is the desire

has anyone got it to work on the desire - which version do you have?

I've tried loads of different versions and they all say my version is incorrect as it doesn't support 800*480

I like one called "Weather Widgets", it uses Nordic weather service but I find it to be about as accurate as most websites. Good range of widgets also.
 
Favourite 3 apps so far:

Twicca - Best Twitter Client I've come across so far.
Catch That Bus UK - Live bus times based on location using google maps, very handy.
SNESoid - SNES emulator on the go, win :)
 
Anyone know why I might be struggling to download apps from the market? I could do it last night at home fine, but I've come to work and for some reason I can browse the Internet and the Market okay, but when I choose to download something it just says 'Starting download' and goes no further. (It's a Desire and it's my first day :) )
