Essential Android Apps

Gameloft appear to have a BOGOF - Buy One Get One Free - promo going atm, although there's nothing on their Facebook or Twitter to confirm this.

I just checked their wapshop through the stock browser on my Sensation & it was an option near the bottom of the page.

Is this normal, I listen to some podcasts that I subscribe to with Google Reader Ap. I use either Winamp,Google Music or MoboPlayer to stream the podcast. However after about 5-10min the stream stops and I have to go back to Reader and restart the podcast and then forward to roughly where I was...and repeat every 5-10min.

Any ideas? Phone is Nexus1 with Android 2.3.4

Does the screen go off when the cutoff happens? Those apps could be going into suspended mode. I only found that the apps with screen on features don't have this problem. Both Desire and Galaxy S II.

With Google Music and Winamp I can lock the screen and the audio continues to play, til it dies later on. With Mobo player if the screen is locked the audio ceases immediately.

Use powerAmp. Had no issues with lock screen etc, no audio cutout over many many hours.

I dislike clicking things to find out what they are!

The Llama app basically allows your phone to know WHERE you are within defined zones based off cell tower references (no extra bat usage).

Once these zones are established (I only have HOME or WORK atm), you can define in betweens for the zones, and what happens when you arrive at the zone. By standard this is setup to just make your phone silent / normal / loud, but you can then customise it to do cool stuff.

At the moment I have it automatically turning on WIFI when in range of my house, then automatically syncing all my data. For work arrival I have it go to silent etc until I leave work for lunch and it should turn to loud when im in the town.

This is what I bought my smartphone for... automation, now I've found the app to do it!

Does anyone know.of an app that can output a list of all my installed.apps to a text file?

I think I might need to do a factory reset after my desire overheated using the satnav while charging - my calendars are no longer showing all my entries.

Thanks.

Can't you just back up the actual .apk files from your phone? I think it might have to be rooted to access the folder.

Root your phone and then backup and restore Apps + Data with Titanium Backup. Easy as pie.

Has more features than that too

Ta, but how does rooting affect the warranty?

As I said I've got an overheating problem, so I'm going to need to send it back for repair and obviously don't want to root my phone beforehand if it invalidates the warranty.

Which phone do you have?

It does invalidate the warranty, but you can always flash back a ROM to make it stock :)

HTC desire.

I'm planning on sending it hack in the next week or so, so I didn't really want to root it then de-root a couple of days later to keep my warranty.

Guess I'll just have to do it the old fashioned way. Write down on a bit of paper what I've got installed.

Cheers

Takes a matter of a couple hours with the Desire though.

Have you used Appbrain before? That will save you writing down apps ;)

Genius!

I'd forgotten all about appbrain. I took it off when Google added their web market.

That'll be perfect.

Thank you very much!
