Essential Android Apps

Any recommendations for an office app to open power point and word documents?

Office Suite 6 free should do that - the full version was 25p yesterday.

I have just moved from a HTC phone to a Samsung S3 and the email app is not as good as I can only set peak and off peak syncing for exchange accounts and not IMAP. Anyone have a recommendation for a good email app (The HTC one was perfect for me) that allows peak and off peak for all accounts?

Hi, I appreciate this being asked before, but cannot find any immediate answers...

I'm looking for downloadable offline Maps for a particular city I can use over the weekend - preferably free.

Any suggestions?

Google brings up this, but wondering if there are any that stand out above the rest:

Cheers,

Google Maps. Press Options then, "make available offline" then just move the box over the bit you want (pan to move and pinch to zoom in and out). Its limit is 86MB of map but that takes in about 100 square miles PLUS you can download more than 1 segment and overlap them.

Ah, have tried this... but I didnt like it first time round.

Seemed like it didnt download everything (street names, places of interest, etc) for the square... maybe I did something wrong...

Offline Google Maps is crap, used to be great until they made it a proper feature rather than what they had in labs.

Grab CoPilot or something.

Navfree

I love it both for maps and navigation. Admittedly it does use quite a bit of storage space though as you download by country. UK is 300MB i think.

Without data connection you dont get the traffic directions etc but all the street names are fine
