Works fine for me so far, played quite a few races but as there are over 1000 events I'm sure you can easily rack up charges. I won't pay for anything though, I'm progressing pretty well so far without.

+1 to the 0800 wizard (I have the 08 wizard, paid version) it's a great app, I must've saved a fortune by bypassing premium rate call centre numbers lol

I was going to try plex to deal with the streaming (ideally so I can access my server when away from home). Does anyone have any experience with this? Any good?

Any good Twitter apps? I just wasted £1.20 on Falcon Pro, it's a bit **** that they sell something you can not use thanks to the twitter 100k token limit (Found out about that after i bought it)
Every now and then (I think he did this yesterday) he forces people to log in again, to clear out those not using it any more. You'll be able to use it again very soon (if not now).

Well mate, looks like no one bothered to give any root-free suggestions so I'll give a stab at some Dad friendly apps:
Pulse - excellent customizable news feed
Flipboard - visually beautiful news articles
Stumble Upon - specific interest based online content
TedTalks - science related presentations (excellent!!!)
Keep - great TODO list app made by google
Whatsapp - send free pics/vids/audio to family and friends
Pandora - free tailored music
Pocket Casts - excellent podcast access app
Real Racing 3 - a free racing game to try
Angry Birds - fun game
ProHDR - if he enjoys taking photo's he'll be impressed with the quality using that puppy
I'd love to find an a method to placing all images into one folder since the Note 2 Android gallery is an absolute mess compared to the iPhone single folder.

Don't get the Pro one then, stick to the free one and deal with adverts at the bottom of your feed
MyBackup Pro has been updated with a new feature called Migrate which allows you to migrate all data from one device to another as long as they are on the same Wireless network.
That's a cool feature and should be quite speedy as well if connected using Wireless-N.

I have setup my hotmail.co.uk address to forward to GMail is there any way I can set-up my domain name (mydomain.co.uk) to go via GMail too but I want to be able to reply from hotmail.co.uk and mydomain.co.uk from within the app, that would be very handy
Can't seem to find any clear instructions online
