Been wondering - Is it a bad thing to have lots of apps installed at the one time?. Like a PC is it the case that the more progs, apps and games you install the slower the entire system usually gets?.
I have a fair whack of apps installed on my iPhone 4 and it doesn't seem as "snappy" as it was when it was a "blank canvas" so to speak?.

No because unlike a PC the iPhone doesn't run Windows.
Have a look at your multitasking bar and close some stuff down, my mate had his phone go slow and it turned out the bar was full of all sorts of apps and its just not necessary to have them all open at once.
Well i suppose it does slow down especially moreso if you dont close your open apps down properly...much like any smartphone on the market certain apps will drain the memory over time.
I tend to give my iphone4 a reboot at least once a week and the apps ie games that ive finished or got bored of i delete.

Ta, but I do that already. I have SBSettings and use RemoveBG to close all apps after I've used anything. I'll also respring it every few days just to make sure.

Try putting apps into folders rather than have them all on their own. Helped for me.
