Essential iPhone Apps

You need to buy Peggle First, then Peggle Nights (extra levels) is available to buy in the Peggle itself.

If you want to watch DivX/XviD videos without having to convert them, CineXPlayer is now available for iPhone/iPod touch (£1.19) :)

My iPod touch arrived yesterday so I'm getting to grips with it, but I'm liking it.

Anyway, I'm not really sure if a game counts as an app really, but even if it does, I'm trying to see which are the most useful non-game apps out there before I add any games, as they are such a distraction!

So far I'm using:

Dropbox (great to sharing files between PC, Mac and iPod)
Last.fm Player (this is brilliant, listing to it right now)
Shoutcast player (streaming internet radio)
BBC Radio (seems to get most of the BBC radio stations but I can't seen to find 6 music for some reason.
TV guide (handy to see what's on)

Now, what other useful non-game apps are out there I was wondering?

Is there a better music player? The built in one is ok, but it really needs a transport bar so you can seek with 1hr long songs/podcasts.

EDIT: IS there an Telnet/SSH client also?

TuneIn Radio - just about the best radio app
Shazam - great for identifying songs
BBC News - erm, keep in touch with news
iFitness - great app for fitness routines and how-to's etc
Facebook - if that's your kind of thing
Eurosport - sports news etc

TuneIn Radio is really nice, thanks.

It's a shame my iPod does not have an imbuilt mic as it would be really handy for that Shazam app, I'll have to order a mic.

I haven't tried out any of the others that you mentioned yet but iFitness looks interesting also.
Not unless you JB it.
I'm running the latest iOS so JB is not an option. I want an SSH client though, not a server...
Huh?

You can seek along the bar in the iPod just by scrolling with your finger, or hold down the FFW/RWD buttons.
I've just tried it again and I've found the transport bar now. I think I was getting the Last.fm app mixed up with the inbuilt music player. :o

There are hundreds of SSH clients in the App Store, well in double figures at any rate. I've used none so can't recommend anything.
There do seem to be loads, and it's a shame that PuTTY isn't in there though as I'm used to that.

Has anyone tried Rove Mobile Admin Client? It's free and it seems to do RDP as well as SSH. :)
