Essential iPhone Apps

bought cut the rope and modern combat 2 today and can't get off them, both equally addictive games

gotta say im impressed with how good the graphics are on modern combat, the only lag i've faced is after a flashbang, apart from that it's completely smooth!

the controls are also pretty good, compared to other FPS like Eliminate or w/e!

Just downloaded NavFree, free satnav but with locally stored maps, only needs data connection when planning the route so no need to worry if you drive into a area with no data coverage. Not had the chance to test it yet, seems to automatically switch betwen day/night views which is nice.

Trainyard Express is excellent. Great little game very well made and very simple idea excellently performed.

Merging trains perfectly takes a bit of trial and error but completing a level is very satisfying.

Anyone tried sonic 4 ep 1?

I like it. Yes it's short but the controls do work and it is playable.

I downloaded Skobbler yesterday. BUT I'm starting to get concerned that I'm using the 3G an awful lot and my bill is gonna be huge. I only got the iphone on Wed after having a Nokia 5800 with unlimited internet...so having to try and restrain myself after 18 months of not having to worry about usage..unsuccessfully so far

Is this a better/cheaper option?

Also downloaded DoodleJump after seeing it recommended in the Sunday paper...pretty addicitive little game

Well, just tested out NavFree and it isn't bad, tried to take me a different way to my usual trip from London to Oxford at first but once I was on the M25 it seemed to know where I wanted to go, although did try and keep my on the M25 to take the M4 instead of the M3 which I usually take.

Few things I noticed:

-Seemed to call the M25 the M5 instead

-Every few minutes it reminded me to keep right on the motorway, gets irritating after a while but may be adjustable.

-Pauses music to tell you directions instead of making it quieter like TomTom, this makes the constant "keep right" more annoying..

-After just 5 mins found that there was a turn off missing from a local roundabout but it uses the same maps as Skobbler so can be flagged and updated.

All in all it's not bad for a free satnav app which doesnt require a constant data connection so no worries on the data usage front :)

ANYTHING relating to accessing stuff not already on your iPhone will come off of your data allowance, you will need a WiFi connection for NavFree as it is over 20MB!
