Essential iPhone Apps

Another vote for Trainyard Express - highly addictive!

Also downloaded Tiger Woods PGA Tour, not bad, reminds me of tiger woods game on the original xbox!

I'm liking PlainText. It's a pretty looking notepad / text editor that supports folders and syncs with Dropbox.

It's free (iAd supported) at the moment however I read somewhere that the dev plans to release an update with an in-app purchase to remove the adverts, although they are only displayed on the folder list and not when editing a document so aren't too intrusive (I was actually quite interested as it's the first app I've downloaded that has iAds, most stuff I pay for).

Dropbox is free online storage with apps to sync accross PC, Mac, iPhone, Android etc and all accessible via the web. It's becoming more useful on iOS as other apps start supporting it as a way to get data on/off the device without having to sync / email.

* The second Dropbox link is a referral link, if you sign up via that link I get an extra 250MB free storage in my account (and so do you). If you don't want that just use the first link.

I quite enjoyed Trainyard express, I've completed all the levels now and some of the bonus levels are rather good also.

Nice to see an app with Dropbox support, I use Dropbox quite a bit and while the official app is nice it only seems to allow you to view files and not upload them.

I'll give Plaintext a go, will come in handy for making todo lists and things like that.

Do you know of any other apps with Dropbox support at all?

1Password works if you sync the encrypted password file using Dropbox.

Dropbox list some more apps on their website here: https://www.dropbox.com/apps/list?order_by=popular (but I've not used any others)
Nice link, cheers. 1password looks good but I'm using Keepass to manage my passwords on my main computer so I'd rather stick to that if I could. With any luck this is an iPod version of Keepass around with Dropbox integration

Also you may Nebulous Notes, it seems similar to plaintext but has more features, and there seem to be no ads, even on the free version. :)

Cool, thanks. Athough it says..

- Edit files offline
- Open as many files from Dropbox as you want

... are in the paid version only, I'd probably want offline files and it's not clear what the limit on Dropbox files is on the free version :/

I like the way PlainText syncs a folder as soon as i navigate it, handy for grabbing a shopping list as the supermarkets round here appear to be faraday cages.

I'm quite liking Nanosynth right now, if anyone likes making electronic music then give this a go (OSX and Win versions are free), for £9 it's a steal if you ask me.

I see, I must admit I couldn't quite work out what the restrictions on the free version are but offline editing is a bit of a biggie.

Right now I've got both PlainText and Nebulous Notes installed, but even so I find myself using PlainText more often, so I guess this is a case of less is more! :)
