Essential iPhone Apps

It installs some kind of profile which compresses all data (except streaming data) to and from your phone so that it in turn reduces the amount of MB you use.
The Opera Mini browser does something similar to this, it's pretty clever especially on text heavy websites.

Was mentioned on the Gadget Show last night. I've always wondered how well these things do. Most graphics. either static or moving, are already compressed somewhat so without reducing quality much further I struggle to see how these tools really work

Try zipping a 100kb html file, it works rather well, you'll get 50kb of less.

As for JPEG and PNG files, these are already compressed so you cannot really compress them anymore. :)

Guys

Whats the app called where you can create desktop shortcuts (iPhone) to bluetooth rather than digging around in the settings all the time?

I think I posted in this thread a few pages ago but I'll say it again,

All you need is Cydia, SBsettings and Winterboard.

And yes, they are all jailbreak only apps, but why would you not jailbreak an iPhone? the stock version is so limiting, no file transfer bluetooth or anything

To be honest I can't be bothered! :D

This app covers what I need and took seconds to do ;)

I dont feel limited at all. I did with my iphone 3, the main problem for me was multitasking but not with the 4s, I cant see any reason to jailbreak.

I did try jailbreaking my 3GS last year but I found it so brittle that I reverted that evening. So much nicer in stock mode.

I agree that having quick toggles for settings and other stuff would be nice and very much needed but at least with a non jailbroken phone you know stuff will always work from update to update!
