Essential iPhone Apps

Can you watch iPlayer over 3G?

Still does work though. It does the same as the other application, it matches current contacts to those on FB and downloads their profile picture but I want something that will copy ALL my facebook friends who have numbers into my iPhone's address book.

I vaguely remember reading something about why you can't do this, something legal, but I can't remember what it was or if I am just making it up :p

Not sure TBH, worth a try tho if i have some spare time over the weekend. I heard somewhere you can also open the programme you want to watch, click pause, leave the house/WiFi area, and then when your ready, click play and it will continue to stream over 3G.
Again have not tried this tho

Seemed to have Jaadu working today thanks to a combination of tutorials, messing arounf with settings and assistance from geforce (appreciate it mate) if anyone is interested I'll see what I can do to get a thread setup on it over the weekend or early next week, but buying the jaadu rdp client, enabling remote desktop connections to your pc, and fwding ports 3389 UDP & TCP to your PC would be the main things you need to do.

Still working on WoL parts of it, as been a busy week where I don't feel like messing too much in this heat, but should be a case of the aforementioned app and fwding port 7 udp to the pc again, but will work on that ;)

I tried this at lunch - started something before I left the office, walked into town and it was still playing over 3G... I didn't pause it though, left it playing.

You're probably right, doesn't sound surprising. Why though I have no idea as you can do it manually. Took me about 20 minutes to get all the numbers off FB and make the contacts manually, but then the MyPhone app was ace at matching all the profile pictures to the contacts.

I've got quite a few but my favourites are porbably

Facebook
Skype
Trism - Great puzzle game as someone mentioned above
Peggle - great for 59p
DrawRace - Addictive racing game, where you draw the racing line and the AI drives for you. It recognises the speed you move your finger as well, so you can't just go full speed or you will spin out.
GiantBomb - Only came out yesterday but it gives me access to probably my favourite gaming website on the move.
Sky News - Breaking News on the move :p
Dropship - Cool spaceship flying thing
X2football - was rather impressed with this footy game.
Touchgrind - control a skateboard with your fingers! takes a while to get used to but it is enjoyable
Shazam

I really want to try Flight Control after all the recommendations above.

Sorry if this is a bit thread hijacky, but as i new iphone user (got given my sisters old 2G which ive just updated to 3.0) Is there a limit to the number of Apps you can have?

I downloaded about 10 last night and they all worked fine, however i downloaded another 5 or 6 and suddenly none of the apps would work, just opened for less than a second then closed to the phone menu.

I uninstalled maybe half of them and it now works fine. Am just concerned for the future as no doubt i will be installing lots more and dont want this problem again. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Just tried that and it indeed works! I paused it then disabled wi-fi in the phone settings and it resumed over 3G no problem. So simple yet so effective :D

Pretty sure thats a known hiccup - though I cant remember the fix (other than a reset and reinstall of the apps) do a google as Im sure theres loads on the issue...

EDIT: I think its due to not having your iTunes authorised on the Pc/Mac you are syncing with...

Just out of curiosity how do you guys feel if something's worth say 99p, £5, £10 on the iPhone?

I'm considering writing a few iPhone apps so I'm just trying to get an eye for the costs.

Thanks for the reply, i did a quick google and it does seem to be caused by unautorised itunes, but i did authorise it! :( Unless im missing something. (It came up with the box saying something about you have autorised 1 out of 5 available computers)

I'll try reinstalling all the Apps again later and see if its still doing it.

To be honest, the most I have spent on any app was £3.99 and I think that's about as much as i'd want to spend, especially with the slew of decent apps recently selling at 59p.

I would say keep your price low and you'll likely sell a lot. Price it too high and you'll get very few sales.

That sounds odd. I think you are only limited by the space on your phone.

There is a 9 page app limit, this will include the official apps too.

It was crashing because it was out of memory. Restart the phone now and again, and it will be fine :)
