Euro 2008 Group A **Spoilers**

Did anyone watch the Portugal game? What happened for them to lose 2-0 :o

Feel for Cech as well, the poor guy has really had a tough time since he got that head injury. Not looking as commanding and got that nasty cut on his face as well. The standards he set in his first two seasons he was gonna find it tough to keep going but those injuries haven't helped.

Commentators' kiss of death tbh, should have seen it coming when they repeatedly said he was the best keeper in the world.

Turkey piled on the pressure (for most of the second half) and played the better football and I am happy they are through :D

One goal they conceded while they had 10 men, good determination and Nihat's second goal was one of the goals of the tournament so far...

Turkey wanted it more than the Czech Republic, that much seemed pretty obvious from the general gameplay. In the end they deserved it - though I think they will struggle without Volkan in the next match, he's seemed pretty solid so far.

I guess this is the South American spoiler thread as well?

Anyone watch the Argentina v Ecuador game?

Ecuador's goal was quality and then Argentina score in the last second to equalise!

Bad news for Liverpool fans, Mascerano was injured. I don't think it's that serious though.

I couldnt help laughing when I saw Cech's fumble - hopefully that will take his arrogance down a notch or two, oh hold on he plays for Chelsea, so no hope there then :D

That third Turkish goal was great - Im sure Cech shouldnt have rushed out in that situation, if he had stayed on his line it would have been an easy save imo for most premierhip goalies - but the nearer you get to the striker ( out of the area) the odds favour the attacker dramatically

Turkish goalie was an idiot, maybe he should have only got a yellow but even so, match was won and attacker was baiting him on purpose, now they have even smaller chance of getting through to the semi's without him

Cant see Croatia losing that game - unless they have major booking/injury concerns (dont think they have either)

Yeah, not seen anything to make me think Cech is arrogant.

It's the exact opposite. You're supposed to come off the line to close the angle, which gives the striker a smaller target. If goalies just stayed on the line then strikers could just get as close as they felt like before hitting it.

I think Cech comes across as a really cool guy, I've never ever thought of him as arrogant, in fact I'd say the opposite if anything.

?!?! if he stayed on his line the Turkish striker wouldn't have made the same shot, he'd have carried it closer to the goal and smashed it in either corner. He's been absolutely brilliant all tournament in my opinion, made it look so easy due to his game knowledge and positioning, keeper of the tournament in my eyes.

Cech doesn't strike me as arrogant, in fact he strikes me as one of the most genuine, down to earth guys in the league.

Apart from in Moscow - one of the people saying they deserved to win, without considering the 1st half at all

Just always appears to me as being arrogant is all

And given the fact the striker would have been closer it would have made an easier save (not easy but do-able), not only that but he wasnt a top notch striker by any means, by rushing out it made it easier for the forward, even if he first had to get it high enough over Cech's head initially

When a game is so even (which it was in the final) you will quite often see someone from the losing side say the believe they should have won, it's only natural to feel that way.

We should just agree he wasn't at fault for the third goal in any way at all, he did what any top keeper would have done in that situation.
