Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

It can be a very boring game indeed.

That's why I couldn't bring myself to buy the game.

Sure the demo was fun for a few hours and the environments are definitely top notch, but the game isn't challenging enough. Perhaps if there were a greater diversity of trucks which you could interact with, e.g. loading freight using fork lift trucks etc, and the ability to tip bulk loads, and the addition of unusual oversized loads. I also think the physics need to be tweaked more to make the game more punishing if you brake harshly making you lose control more easily.

And the traffic AI just got on my nerves, stopping in the middle of the road for no reason, traffic jams at junctions which never clear meaning you have to ram your way out, not giving way at roundabouts.

Not sure I'm allowed to mention the name, but a certain high-street games shop beginning with a 'G' is selling this for £14.99.

... well the one in Leeds city centre is anyway. ;)

Ah, so you guys also discovered this game. Nice! :) I searched the topic for information about anti-aliasing because I read a post somewhere at the start of the topic about someone not being able to get anti-aliasing working. Well, in case you didn't know, here is how to do it (nVidia):

Apply the settings that are (slightly) black on this screenshot in nVidia Inspector and then (MANDATORY!!!!!!!!!) set MLAA off in the game and set scaling to 100% in the game. (Leaving MLAA on will make things blurry and ANY OTHER scaling setting will DISABLE anti-aliasing!) With these settings I have great graphics and no more annoying flickering and shimmering pixels all over the place. ;) It's a complete new game with FSAA!

P.S. You can experiment with the LOD bias settings. I like -2.000 but some like lower settings like -1.000 or less: this settings sharpens the textures.

I'm stuck away from my PC for a few days so I can't test the trial but I am somewhat interested, but I've gotta ask:

Is this like the old version in terms of town centers and industrial estates (ie pretty much every town in the same square industrial estate) or is there a bit more there this time?

I tend to play it as a side game, if you play it all the time I can see it getting boring. Way I play it I do a few trips here and there and still love it to bits because of this.

Yeah I do the same, currently trying to complete ACII again and do a few trips a session when I need a break from that!

Started a new demo account last night while LoL was down. Decided to just go mental and see what i could get away with :D managed to take a huge shortcut off an embankment down the side of the motorway, fly off the top where the overpass went and use a perfectly timed passing lorry to bounce me over to the correct side of the road :D :D :D Wish i'd been recording it was chuffing brilliant!

The citys are very samey, you do see some landmarks but they are more in the background really, I dont see why citys cant be made more detailed and more like there real life counterparts though, this game is so moddable either the creators or the community could do this I'm sure.

Not much, you can do the same stuff ie get your own company etc. I to have UK truck sim and the difference is pretty small apart from all the overseas driving. I am 99% sure it is the exact same engine.

Yeah thanks for that... Just got off it and not bad not bad at all much better than expected. Quite realistic but I didn't have proper throttle control so can't gauge it, will try it with an xbox 360 controller when I next play it in a few days time.

Saw some videos of City Car Driving which also look interesting
