Euro Truck Simulator 2 worthy of purchase

right anyone using the TSM mod getting crash's in game? ive got to the point now where i cant explore to new city's as when i find a new one and have dropped cargo there it crash's when i then go to the quick job screen for a new cargo

Any ideas?

I got around to installing the TSM 3.5 this weekend but as I've only just bought the game and started off, I haven't had any issues so far.

With TSMv2.2 + JPM (and ETSv1.3.1) job screen, I used to have to wait for the images of the trailers to fully load one the first page, before selecting the city I'm in and again wait for the trailer images to load, before selecting job. It never crashed though.

With TSMv3.5 + JPM (and ETSv1.4.8) I don't have the same issue with the job screen. They have done away with trains, tanks and what not, but replaced with higher detailed trailers (with numerous skins). Quite enjoyed a challenge of parking in an Aldi supermarket in Denmark last night.

Got over-heating GPU issues to deal with though :(

for some reason, ive started playing this now.

im level 3, should i take out a loan for my own truck or is it better to go further doing quick jobs?

also what are must have mods?

up to you really but this is what I did:

-Do quick jobs untill the bank allows you to loan up to 500k
-take out a 400k loan
-upgrade main or buy new base (new will give you 3 slots rather then 2 in main as you fill one of them) both options will cost 180k
-buy 2 trucks for no more then 100k each
-hire 1 driver and use other truck for yourself (as long as you don't crash its much better pay to work the freight market)

but if you do crash a lot then maybe do quick jobs for a bit longer :)

well i saved up 15k then took out a loan i think for 80k.

bought the cheapest scania truck.

with my levels up ive put them into dangerous loads. im now pulling 9k per trip instead of 3-4 from quick jobs.

I bought this on release and I just managed to get my own truck, the FH16, with the engine nicely upgraded. Only got a few test runs in the new truck before I wiped my PC and forgot to back up my save-game.

I'm back up to about £60k now after getting back into the game recently, so quite some way to go until I can buy another decent truck, might try and go for a Scania instead this time. I didn't take a loan out last time and I'm not going to this time either.

Shouldn't take too long as I can kill hours on this game with Kerrang Radio or something similar playing in the background.

I've always liked the truck sim games like 18 Wheels of Steel. It's just a nice relaxing change from shooting people in the face all the time :p

I downloaded the demo today on the recommendation of this thread. OMG, what is it that draws you into this game? I've been doing quick jobs today with a drive across to Calais to see what that was like lol. I find it a little awkward using the keyboard so bought a steering wheel online this evening :)

I do this! :D Rock always makes for good 'trucking music'
I know about the in-game radio but I use Winamp so I can switch between Kerrang and Planet Rock (ADVERTS!) or I may just switch to my music collection

I had the demo version and put a few mods on it last year. Got the full version in the sale and my mods are still there...

Are any outdated or better version available? I have real companies mod but I find it odd delivering woodchips to Aldi.. is there not a version that puts the companies with suitable ones?

Any suggestions? I like realism or at least things to look real, like the companies and trucks.. anything that improves the towns would be good..

I am a big fan of this game myself! I'm not sure how I even came to play it in the first place, but I got it at a great price at the time and to this day I have clocked just under 60 hours into it! :D

Has anyone tried this recently released map of Scandinavia? Looks interesting with what sounds like Scania and Volvo yards. Can't test as got hardware failure ATM :(

Requires registering at above to download (gotta make their money somehow I guess) but is slowly beginning to be hosted elsewhere

I signed up to the forum via Facebook.. downloaded. Works and is pretty awesome!!!!

Anyone got any ideas regarding my previous post?
Also if you download skins does it affect AI trucks? I would prefer seeing trucks having company names not just solid colours.. and relevant cargos from places, not gravel to IKEA :p

The just play mod addresses company logos and adds a load of suitable trailers. This mod adds all cab designs to ai traffic http://ets2.lt/en/141-realistic-ai-traffic-mod/#more-14845 Can't confirm if this version is good, but the first was.

can some body tell me how to get the mods working please? Just downloaded the speed limiter mod, its a .js file, where the hell does it go?? other sites refer to them being .scs files???

A .js file is javascript. Suspect you downloaded part of the webpage, not the mod. ;)

Anyway they added a speed limiter disable checkbox in v1.4, so it's kinda redundant.
