Euromillions

******** does it take 9 months. You'd lose way too much interest. I think that's what I'd do for the first few months. Live of the interest, that is.

No you go to the lottery HQ and have to go through a days worth of verification and media interviews.
Once verified they usually advise you open a VIP bank account and there is usually a Lloyds rep there at the time (Was Lloyds ten years ago). The money is then transffered immediately upon completion of the verification process which is all done on the same day. You are asked to bring various documents with you.
If there are issues with verification then it could take longer.

They'll probably come to you, if you ask... I, however, would want to be in a suite at the Ritz, and close to lots of shops .

ah, well if this is the case, then that's different.
I would buy a house, a car and umm.........that would probs be it for myself. then a nice couple of grand in the kids bank accounts for when they are older and a few treats for them. pay off my debts and well, that would be it. let it make some money and spend that.

is the media stuff compulsory? because I wouldn't want to be plastered all over the place, I would want it kept private.

Because they have to collect the money from all the stores. They have to deduct all the small wins from the jackpot and pay everyone else too. They have to confirm your details the ticket, other winners from all over europe.

Its not my idea >.< just how it is. after a quick google some say it can potentially take as long as 9 months. And i heard up to a year on a TV program about lotto winners.

 why on earth would they have to collect the money and pay other prices first

Where did you get that from. Read this

Most accounts set up and money cleared within a day

Just finished reading that as I came back here! I stand corrected.

Even so it seems to be as much as a week. your day 1 madness will have (somewhat :p ) subsided.

Does it make any of you feel guilty playing the lottery? The fact that it could wipe out poverty.

No. Not one bit. Good causes are supported by the lottery. If it weren't for the fact that they gave away massive jackpots, then no-one would do it and charities wouldn't be helped.

Anyway, I would still help out charities with my winnings, but ones of my choice like GOSH, Cancer research, BHF, NSPCC and RSPCA. May sound harsh, but i'm of the opinion that charity begins at home.

personally I would prefer it didn't go in extremely quickly. I would sat 3-5days would be good. gives me time to plan what and where I want to spend the money.

The counselor recommends going on Holliday with out friends and family for a week or two, to compose yourself and have a good think.

Yeah well day 1 call them. chances are you did this immediately which means late at night. So day 2 for person to come to you confirm you stuff chat etc. Day3 accounts and mullah.

Im sure they're very good at convincing you to take a step back for a minute. Their website + that mail interview say they always recommending the first thing you do is take a holiday. time to think.
