Euromillions

Yup, two of my friends that worked together (think it was the delivery firm DPD) got in the region of £65k each in a syndicate many years ago. They are the only two people I know directly who "won proper" as it were.

If I won I wouldn't go public. I'd try to keep it as secret as possible, probably by starting to chat occasionally about investments which made a good return, eventually buying a business etc and saying it was going well.

With a small business, you could easily lie and say your nice house/car were all on finance, you could explain away trips overseas as business trips (or jollys from suppliers etc.).

You could keep the scroungers/hitmen away by choosing the right business. Instead of buying a bar/nightclub, buy a company supplying mercenaries and bodyguards in conflict zones - then you get plenty of nice "helpful" employees and people won't see your business as a soft target. :D

I'd make a game of it, but then I'm a sneaky person anyway. :)

My missus would probably blab it all over Facebook on day 1 and scupper my plan though lol. Still, I could have my "employees" execute her I suppose....

Edit: If I won big I'd buy an old castle somewhere in eastern europe and equip it "bond villain" style. :D

Think I would spend about 1-2 on a nice sailing yacht, and travel the world with a couple of friends for a year or two, the interest earned by the time i got back would cover the cost of the yacht and money spent away, and i would have the time to work out what to do with all the cash :-)

If I won I'd sort out everyone I knew to a reasonable extent - depends how well I knew them - then **** off around the world visiting mates that I haven't seen for an age.

I'd probably demand that my mates take a 6 month sabbatical from their jobs and then travel the world with them. It would be AWESOME.

Dish some out to family and friends.
Buy main UK pad £5m.
London party pad £2m.
Ski chalet. £1m
Bugatti Veyron Supersport £2m.
Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing £1m.
MK1 Golf Gti £20k.

Some other cars as I go along.

£45m into a trust type thing and spend the rest of my life giving it all away to people that need it.

Spank the rest slowly. Any kids can have the properties as inheritance.

Bugger buying places, everything I have will be purpose built. Massive plot of land with workshops, garages, seperate log cabin for guests, cinema room, automagic gates, and a fully automated home. Would continue with my business, but could sink a lot of money into it, and employ people who actually know what they are doing!

I would spread a lot of wealth around, get OcUK to build half a dozen top end systems for people on here to win as prizes (say one a month).

And a nice Aston Martin for myself, that would be first on the list!

As for foreign homes, wouldn't bother. Would just stop in the best hotels. Possibly get a place on The World.

Id just buy myself a nice shooting/fishing estate somewhere in ireland/Scotland as a base and live the rest of my days traveling all over the world enjoying life.

Kick the misses to the kerb (gold digger) and take the wee women with me :)

I'll spend my money on stuff like this

Love it when this thread pops up, its always a good reminded to buy a ticket luckily I have £2 in my account so need to use it up.

If I do win though I am buying that table! as well as a house just for that table!

I have never considered buying a table with lottery winnings before but now I want that one!

Won a fair bit recently between sydicate at work and personally, won about £40 in last couple of weeks so got my next few tickets sorted out. As for telling people, family and close friends would know because there isn't a way to keep it covered up when you pay off their mortgages etc lol but outside that no way. As said above, setting up a business would be good and would provide cover for the money if you meet anyone new.

Greboth, how much did you win?
Most people win poultry* amounts.
Did you win anything significant?

*I shall refrain from correcting the spelling....because the next post will lose its comedic value. ;)

Grrrr....the poultry jokes. :D

I would prefer to feather my chances. Who really needs £80M or whatever the big prize is?

Need is all relative though isn't it?

Personally, given the extremely small chance of winning no matter whether you're going in as an individual or as a syndicate i'd rather get the cash all to myself.

If it's going to happen, it'll happen, trying to play an odds game rarely works - it's the same with all forms of gambling
