You seem to mention Vela every single weekend in this thread yet looking at his stats and watching a few odd performances he's nothing like the striker you're describing. Not really sure how you can praise one player so much yet criticise Walcott so often when he's scoring and assisting far more in a far harder league
He is the highest scorer and highest assister(by a margin) in a team that has a 40million euro budget, trying to nick 4th of Valencia, a team spending several times as much. EDIT:- trying to nick is harsh, they've actually been ahead of them for ages and have fully deserved it being brilliant for months on end and giving Valencia a couple spankings in the process(both in fantastically entertaining games).
Vela didn't play, I've been talking up SOCIEDAD, can you see the spelling difference. Did you read my post at all, where I said Vela has been in worse form since his injury a couple months ago, Vela had been the best player by a small margin in a great squad playing great football. he's still been their best player of the season just less good in the past couple of months.
He's put in a couple of dozen excellent performances, but again most of my posts are regarding SOCIEDAD and how freaking awesome they were, but way to make another attacking me post for something you can't quite grasp.
That was one of the most exciting games I've seen in the past few weeks last night against Real, and Vela wasn't playing.
I've been telling people to watch SOCIEDAD< because they are damn fun to watch, not Vela, he just happens to be there and is the reason I made the effort to watch a few games last season to see how he was doing, what I found was an awesomely entertaining football team that played exciting football and seemed to rarely partake in a boring game, so I stayed watching them, its not that difficult to comprehend is it?
While you might write off Vela as a few good performances, anyone who watches la liga, like any pundits or spanish commentators have gone on and on about how fantastic he's been, there have been numerous articles on how damn well Vela has been doing in la liga, but thats all worthless because you want to have a pop for no apparent reason, as per usual.
Don't watch SOCIEDAD, regardless of Vela, good for you, you'll miss exciting games and I won't.
IIRC Sociedad have scored 6 against Real Madrid(with one disallowed tonight completely unfairly), first team to beat Atletico at home in over a year, and I think they were the last team to do it before then as well, they were the first (and only?) team to beat Barcelona in the league this year, they thrashed Valencia and thrashed Malaga...... they have a 40million budget and gave Barca and Real, with their 450-500mil budgets, their toughest league games of the season........... but you're not impressed because Vela wasn't great in a few games you watched......
AS for Walcott, well he IS crap, if you can't see why, more fool you. Ronaldo can take the ball from the half way line and use pace, strength, skill, tricks or just intelligence to either play 1-2's, or beat his man to get to the box and score or set up a goal, a LOT of wingers can do that, I've barely ever seen Walcott do that. He's either scoring tap ins(mostly) or being passed the ball out wide and putting it in, though most of his assists tend to come from corners.
THere are players who gain the benefit of everyone elses work, and there are players who do all the work, Vela is the latter, Walcott is the former.
Considering Walcott scored 8 last year and 14 this year, and Vela scored 13 last year and 14 this year............. yeah, I'd say Vela is better. Which IF I'm wrong and Walcott actually is good... still makes Vela better, scoring more with "worse" players around him and a significantly smaller club. Could you also maybe explain how 10 is "far more" than 9 assists, or 14 goals is "far more" than, errm, 14 goals? or how last year Walcotts 8 goals is "far more" than Vela's 13, I mean, it looks like Vela scored over 50% more in the league last year......... but maybe thats just facts and numbers, and accuracy, and knowing what I'm talking about.
SO either Walcott is great, Vela IS better and you're wrong, or Walcott sucks, and you're wrong, which is it? As for being nothing like the striker I've described, its odd, because he's played on the left and right wing for the past 2 seasons and I've said as much. Agirretxe is their out and out striker, and he's been in fantastic form for the past couple months. Vela both picked up an injury and missed a couple games and lost some fitness at a key time. He's also being targetted more and more as he tends to have most of the ball, meaning he's getting kicked off the park in quite a few games, yet still playing very well. Agirretxe in particular has stepped up as Vela's form has gone down a bit, and Griezman has improved a little, but both were good all season anyway.
