European Grand Prix 2011, Valencia Street Circuit - Race 8/19

Heard some rumours of a new tie up with Renault so it could well be some production cars with Williams branding again or maybe Renault using the Williams brand for some sports cars.

Will be interesting to see whatever it is.

An announcement that has cars means either new liveries or new cars. Either Williams tech in other companies car, or new sponsors or tech in the Williams F1 cars...

So, Williams to use Renault Engines from 2012 :D
Back to the days of old? The 5 cars on display were all the constructors championship winning Williams Renault era cars. :)

I am just hoping for a return to the 90's colours!

Flipping good news. Williams Renault cars were the F1 cars I first saw in F1.

It would be brilliant but when Williams had Renault engines they had some bloke called Newey, pretty decent drivers such as Mansell, Hill, Villeneuve and Prost, all of whom won a world title in a Renault powered Williams. Back then Williams were the team to beat, much like Red Bull are now.

I think all Williams fan, and perhaps F1 fans in general, would like to see the 90s Rothmans colours return. We could be in with a chance, this year's Williams is the closest we've got to that colour scheme since 1997 isn't it? It'd be nice if Williams try a marketing trick by paying tribute to the Rothmans Williams Renault colour scheme by bringing it back. ;)

It's insane the number these two designers have won

Newey

1992 - Williams FW14B
1993 - Williams FW15C
1994 - Williams FW16
1996 - Williams FW18
1997 - Williams FW19
1998 - McLaren MP4/13
2010 - Red Bull RB6

Byrne
1995 Benetton B195
1999 Ferrari F399
2000 Ferrari F1-2000
2001 Ferrari F2001
2002 Ferrari F2002
2003 Ferrari F2003-GA
2004 Ferrari F2004

Just shows how predictable f1 is, anyone have a complete list of head designers and constructor ships. I see no reasons why RBR and vettle can't be dominant like those stats.

Good news - the Renault'll be far better than the Cosworth. Wonder what'll happen with the new V6 engines though. Hopefully this deal can be extended into the long term.

If you want similarly insane figures, look at the record of one Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman....

Yeah he was class, but can't find the actual stats. Lotus won 7, was he head designer for all of it, or just the founder? Or was it more blurred back in those days which I think is the most likely.

Still can't find championships vs chief designer list. Can anyone else?

I think the lines were a lot more blurred back then. When the cars were built by men in sheds everyone was involved.

But regardless, there are names that keep commonly popping up in winning teams.
