European Grand Prix 2012, Valencia - Race 8/20

Thought it was Hamilton's fault all the way, there was enough space for LH to leave the other car (which was squarely alongside) but no Lewis wantedto push him off - so he got what he deserved

Lewis - remember when the shoe was on the other foot earlier in the season, and you complained about Rosberg pushing you off the circuit......

Alonso was lucky Renault had a bad day, otherwise Vettel would have won easily , feel for Grosjean he deserved the podium imo

Hmm interesting from Maldonado onboard, seems he didn't actually steer into Lewis. Maldonado was turning left... Or trying to...

Edit: ok so he was trying to steer left when he first hit Lewis, then as he got onto the track he steered right. Wtf.

God I hate the Sky coverage. Such stupid questions and obvious comments.

Vettel already said earlier he wasn't sure what the problem was (turns out it's alternator), how the hell is Nick Heidfeld supposed to diagnose what was wrong with the car by looking at the video.

It's certainly better than BBC's we want the lowest common denomination X-Factor audience style.

Hamilton had every right to defend, it's Maldonado who has to make the clean pass. A better driver would have slotted back behind Hamilton and then tried again, that was a cynical and desperate move.

Stewards said that was ok, that or you will have to admit that hamilton was right then. So you will either have to agree hamilton was in the right then or in the right now, whatever will you do?

Gotta feel for Button, he doesn't even know what's going off. Bet his head is a mess lately. When is the mid-season break?

That was purely because the information showed Rosberg moved first, instead of moving after Hamilton went for a gap. Totally different, not even comparable.

He steered right when he hit the Kerb. Actually at one point going into the turn Pastor was ahead. Tougher to call the more I see it.

Pastor was just caught out by the kerb, racing accident from the replays.

No he wasn't, he ALSO got caught out by the kerb AFTER he turned onto it. He was off the track, had he made the pass it wouldn't have counted as he used going off the track as an advantage. He had all four tyres off the track you never, ever, ever turn back onto a track in that situation he was turning right to come back onto the track in a left turn, that is suicidal and absolutely mental.

The only thing I can't understand is how he wasn't black flagged immediately.

People will say Hamilton should have given up the spot, rubbish, he had twice in the race already taken the safe road and given up the spot against people who had the line and were fully alongside him, he would have for Maldanado, once the move is done he pulls out like Schumi would, like Alonso would, like top drivers would. There is a breed of drivers who ignore safety and push the move when it isn't there. Maldanado is a complete ****, the stewards are girls for not making it clear instantly that is completely unacceptable.

He couldn't steer as he was riding the middle of the kerb...

As above he couldn't steer when he hit the kerb, he hit the kerb after turning right onto the kerb, AFTER he was off the track completely, AFTER he ignored the safety run off and decided to re-enter the track and a ridiculously dangerous point. There is a run off point there to cut the corner for the very reason that if you go off there you shouldn't ever come back on the track at the same point. He had to turn right to get onto the kerb and he only did that to rejoin the track, there was never any option but to hit Hamilton.

Also worth noting that he only got alongside Hamilton fully in the replay as they were in the braking zone, Hamilton was already slowing, he couldn't slow down more, he turned in as tight as he could. Maldanado tried a stupid late move then decided to come back on the track for no reason where I don't think any other driver would ever have tried, he's insane, reckless, dangerous and stupid.

race got exciting when vettels car failed. before that it was snooze fest.

atleast hamilton kept cool in the interview. no point moaning about it, just make the difference next race.

Looks like he was still turning left (but travelling straight on) at the point he hit Lewis's sidepod, however he then made contact with the track again, regaining steering, and looks like he flicked right, which is the point it got worse and Lewis's left rear rode over Maldonado's front right and wing.
