European Grand Prix 2012, Valencia - Race 8/20

Even Marussia can make a front wheel jack that works. It's inexcusable that McLaren's one simply didn't work.

It gets worse, they have had lots of issues with the jack not working during pit stop practice, yet still chose to use it during the race!

I assume its because a decision to change back would have required orders signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters before it could be actioned.

Just like Shummi used to do.

there were different rules back then....

if you watch from the new rule changes this season schumacher during the races you will notice when his tyres have been gone like hamiltons were this race , schumacher has just let people by without much of a fight.

look at the fight with alonso yesterday , schumacher conceded once alonso was fully alongside

It's clear Lewis just got frustrated and didn't want Pasta getting past - he let his previous incidents with Pasta get the better of him. This is the Lewis of old!

Sorry but that is just bananas and based entirely on conjecture. Hamilton had already displayed a willingness to let other drivers past when his tires had gone. He may well have done the same with Maldonado but as previously said if you are going to let somebody by that corner is simply not the place to do it. With DRS Maldonado could very easily have driven around him down a straight had he just waited a few seconds. Letting somebody by does not mean completely compromising your own position on the track for their benefit.

Schumacher made a number of great overtakes. A lot at that corner. He and Webber showed perfectly how a car with better traction should go about overtaking.

A prime example:

"conspiracy theory over safety car"

"an angry Sebastian Vettel said he thought the safety car period was called not just to clear debris but also “to break our neck”

http://totalf1.com/full_story/view/...heory_over_safety_car_deployment_in_Valencia/

lmao :D

Hold on..Jean-Eric Vergne gets a double-penalty in Valencia(he will drop ten places in the next race) for his crash but pasta got away with a 20sec one!

So the lumps of rubber and pieces of Toro Rosso floor spread half way round the track had nothing to do with it?

Just, LOL!

And
"Dr Helmut Marko has confirmed Red Bull's suspicion that the safety car was called onto the Valencia circuit on Sunday to aid ‘the show' "

Oh dear :D

Huh? the stubborn 'this is my line, youre not having it' mentality. That left Lewis with no points!

I don't think Lewis was being stubborn, he was genuinely entitled to hold that line as Pasta was off the track. Lewis may well of "yielded", but it simply wasn't the correct or appropriate time to do so

I think everyone agrees and is surprised that Pasta decided to come back on to the track there, rather than cut the corner and try again later.

To look at it another way, Lewis was in the same boat as Pasta in Canada and waited for DRS, rather than pushing a rash overtake and risk a collision. Some people complained that he did that then, or rather complained about DRS in general but in hindsight, seems like he made the correct choice.

The poor mentality, poor approach and poor choice lies with Pasta and no one else I'm afraid.

So it's ok to run someone off the track as long as its safe to do so?

Hamilton did not run Maldonado off the track, Maldonado ran himself off the track by choosing not to use his brakes when the door was clearly closing. Then, once Maldonado was off the track he had no right to rejoin until the track was clear and yet he just carried on racing outside of the track boundaries.

It's quite shocking reading forums how many F1 followers don't seem to understand the concept of racing, I'm sick of seeing people saying that Hamilton should have just moved over for him because Maldonado was faster. It's no wonder F1 has become so fake with DRS/KERS etc when so many 'fans' don't understand the skill involved in wheel to wheel racing and defensive driving.

Very surprised to see Red Bull come out with those sorts of comments.

Not so much from Vettel, he's clearly annoyed, but for Marko to support the claim is just stupid.

So the marshals should be clearing up debris from a 200mph blind braking zone under green flag conditions

As an aside, I almost want Mclaren to continue to make these mistakes on Lewis. Not because I want him to lose the Championship, far from it in fact, but because I would love to see him at a different team.

As far fetched as it is, Lewis teamed up with Vettel or Alonso does make for a mouthwatering prospect...

Lewis certainly ran Pastor wide, how can anyone not see that? It's a basic F1 driver move to defend your position.

His tires were totally shot so running wide is to be expected. Maldonado was mad to not to anticipate that. He made a bad decision and that is pretty much the end of it.

Red Bull really need to learn to lose gracefully.

I've been watching a bit of American racing recently (Nascar and IndyCar) and been really shocked at the complete open-ness and transparency of the teams. When something breaks on a car the pit crew have told the pit reporter, who has told the commentators, who then tells the fans, even before the car gets back to the pits.

In F1 something breaks. Nobody says what, or why, and immediately starts to blame other factors.

Have RBR even said why Vettels car stopped?

I quite like that though, adds to the competitiveness and consequently the interest of the sport.
