European Grand Prix 2016, Baku - Race 8/21

Could be interesting if the track/tyre degradation is uneven/changing like we have had on other street circuits. If not it'll be awful, but I'll watch. Probably be a few late nights for the teams after Friday.

A track everyones unfamiliar with, no runoffs whatsoever and it looks quite narrow, I think we might spend most of the race under VSC.

Most of the track looks to be on 3 or 4 lane wide roads, so wider than most purpose built tracks.

Almost all, if not all, of the track has been resurfaced for the race, meaning nice new smooth tarmac. So with the tyres Pirelli have produced this year expect a 1 stop race.

Thanks Shimmy.

Interesting to see a new track, doesn't look incredibly alluring but let's see what happens. Hoping for a Hamilton win but would love to see a good fight coming from Ferrari and RBR.

Those outside shots of the lap show its really wide in most places, and even the narrow bit past the castle looks wider than quite a lot of parts of Monaco.

Yh I was going to say I don't think it looks that narrow at all. Should at least allow more 'overtaking' than Monaco.

Passing on this one.
Would rather have half races in Montreal and half in spa than all these dull tracks

Really isn't any need for the f1 owners to make interesting tracks. They can do whatever they want and people will watch

Shame you can't pay a few quid for individual race weekends. If that was a global model maybe races would become more interesting.
Alas, it will never happen

Azerbaijan paid the most money to get their circuit on the calendar. Hardly the F1 managements fault. Just the way it works.

Who knows, it could be an epic grand prix with crashes and diving up the inside under braking at each corner. Its brand new and nobody knows what its going to be like with 22 cars on the grid so don't knock it until you've tried it.

The track is going to have some very high speed parts. Definitely down the main straight and heavy braking into turn one. Some great elevation changes and a really tight few corners by the castle in old town. But it does open up in many places and get narrow in a few.

I've done about 15 laps of it so far. So don't write it off just yet. I'm quietly optimistic.
