Lol.
Standard outcome from the review of the incident.

If it isn't clear cut the decision will go in favour of entertainment. It's a dangerous game but probably better to have a closer championship than a fair one for spontaneous viewing figures

I reckon the opposite. It probably pushes people away when the rules and their application are done from a tombola.

Think it's a fine line. Too many like this and audiences will fall. Too much of a runaway championship and same result.
Because its a business not a sport but people like to see it as a sport its a tough balancing act.

I think you're right. The whole reason why their was a followup from the FIA was because of the outcry against Vettel's lenient punishment, even from people inside the F1 circus. Turns out that investigation was nothing more than a way to diffuse the outcry and hope people forget about the whole mess.

This was as clear cut as they come. A driver lashed out and bashed another driver out of pure malice/loss of control. Said driver then bizarrely made out that he did no such thing in all the TV interviews afterwards, despite it being a live broadcast sport with loads of cameras covering their every move.

It is a farcical decision and nothing more, and both Vettel and the FIA's decision on the matter have damaged the sport.

I am shocked that Lewis did not appreciate what Vettel did, afterall his idol Senna done much worse.....
Senna also got disqualified from a race if I remember.
Thers no way to defend this, simple as that, speed is irrelevant.

Bottom line, he purposefully drove the side of his car into another when under safety car.
DQ there and then and told to get off the track.

Senna got DQ'd for taking a shortcut after his first collision with Prost (and only because Balestre wanted his compatriot to win the title - Prost deliberately turned in on the hard-charging Senna to settle the title). His second, where he took Prost off at turn 1, is far worse than anything any other F1 driver since has done - at least that springs immediately to mind.

I'd say the Senna-Prost incidents were "eye for an eye". Both knew that ending the other's race was enough and Senna was robbed of that title due to the ridiculous shortcut ruling. Not that I condone what he did but you can see why he did it.

The Vettel incident was pure stupidity.
