EV general discussion

EV9 has max load of 640kg with 7 seat config that’s 90kg per person without luggage. That seems a bit lean for passengers.

With such a big car you would thought they make its load capacity larger. But guess it will be stupidly heavy on the road - at max load it’s 3.2tonnes.

Yeah my daughter just got accepted for an Ora 3 lease. Sadly we didn't find it quite that cheap, but was still very reasonable £200ish for 8k miles.

She only recently passed with Auto only licence. We did consider a 3 year old Zoe, but this is better value. Most people spend £200 on fuel a month, she will be able to charge at 7.5p kWh, so basically free for 99.9% of her miles.

Insurance was a little high as zero no claims, but the maths just work.

I hear the UI isn't the best and still lacking android auto. But who wouldn't want their kid driving a 5 star NCAP (recent) rated car, literally they rated it the safest small car of 2023.

The Zoe currently has 0 starts due to them removing stuff.

Who have you used to insure. My wife is now serious considering one and is having problems getting quotes.

Something to do with the name change from “funky cat” to “03” that the insurance underwriters don’t recognise.

That’s normal…

So basically you can’t but 7 XL blokes in it but then realistically, are you going to want to get in it with 6 other XL blokes unless you called shotgun?

You callin' him fat?
Not sure he said he was 90kg+ :p

It was more of a general point that 90kg is above the upper end of a ‘typical healthy weight’ of a 6ft tall bloke and 6ft is also above average height.

If they are not heavier because they are taller, it’s because they are wider and the last thing you want to be sat next to is 2 wide boys on a 3 row bench. ;)

Did I manage to dig myself out of that hole?

Its actually only 75KG per occupant that serves to determine max GVM, reality is the load and test cases for that are pretty extreme so theres some serious margin of safety not to really worry about it in the real world, its just the homologation, EPA weight bandings and tess mass catergories etc.

It’s not so much the safety margin built in, it’s that you don’t want to get pulled into the weigh bridge by the rozzers with 7 XL blokes in the car as one will be walking home.

Edit: that’s probably not any different to most cars in reality (e.g. 5 XL blokes).

Not sure this is the right place to ask this but as an Intelligent Octopus customer who chargers an EV over night - is it right that you cannot see in the octopus app how much your charge is costing you over night? I can see the kWh numbers under usage but trying to see the cost yields no data. I’ve asked octopus but not really had a useful response.

You’ll find out when you get your bill.

It will say how much you have used at the two rates, your average rate and give you a 30 min breakdown for every day in scope of the bill.

Octo-aid app is great, gives you the breakdown every day

Just ordered my wife an ID 4 on a £300 per month lease. Looks like a reasonable deal. It's not the most exciting EV but will be ideal family transport.

That's quite fun --- interesting to see it was delivered grey but sent back to Jaguar for a respray in the blue.
£55-70k, just a bit overvalued . Wouldn't be so bad if it came straight from the Royal Household but some other pleb :D been driving it since Dec 2021 and taken it from 3000 King Charles miles to now 35k (32k pleb miles).
35k Jag and 6 years old, probably half knackered by now too.
Nice colour anyway :D.
