Nah. Everyone played Mario kart.

The confusing between grip and handling is the common one. People pressing on and driving fast on the road are only really around 0.35g lateral. Ie half what most cars are comfortable doing.

people have other purchase priorities and, today, lack experience in an older car with hydraulic steering/rwd/manual gearbox(as well as low weight) - they don't miss what they never had in an everyday'ish saloon.
But, driving can be fun - the number of (positive) ev reviews that extoll straight line acceleration party-piece, immediately concede the handling point.

agree if you mean it is predominately the driver who feels the handling/turn-in/braking... of a car, and as such difficult for someone in (aforementioned ipace) passenger seat to evaluate,
sensation when you are driven in your own car is interesting.

Exactly this. Even a half decent EV will handle this with relative ease. It’s the mythical concept that an EV being 250kg heavier than an equivalent ICE suddenly renders it undriveable at anything approaching the speed limit on a bend.

I have only driven 2 EV’s a Tesla model 3 performance and a Ford mustang Mac e awd. I just felt a distinct lack of communication and feel on a B road.

My mate has a 2020 i Pace and got absolutely dropped by me in my m2 on some Norfolk B roads.

I think most EV drivers would agree that it is hard to know where the limit is when cornering hard.

With an ICE car you can tell when you are at the cornering limit by sound, gear, speed and feel. (Also better feedback when you go over the limit)

Top gear had the model 3 performance beating a BMW M3 on the track. Ofc this is a single lap. The recent models have similar weight.
 
We also have a confusion here with lap times and handling. I did thruxton track day with a load of model 3s in my M3. Who’d have thought cars with similar power to weight would be similar.

track driving. We are talking about grip on a known circuit, not handling.

100% support this, context to a comment is great. For some wide boy to pop up saying his video is newer is an utter farce. Tech boy : have you tried reading posts before you go YouTube hunting? Santa might have some clues spare in the sack if you ask him fast too, after all you do have the toy M car. ;)

Ok I accept that the model 3 performance beat an f80 m3. It is a biased video, as the f80 m3 was released back in 2014.

I’m talking about the current model 3 performance v current m g8x BMW’s.
 
Looks like delivery of the new car is still on for the 6th, charger being installed on the 7th. Currently very excited, definitely a late Christmas present

First electric car so need to reset my thought process regarding filling it up. I've been without a car now for a couple of months and although nice to be chauffeured by Uber everywhere I really miss the driving. I appreciate it's likely already been covered a million times in various threads but what words of wisdom would you give if you were experiencing an EV for the first time?

Learn to use regen breaking properly. Get the traffic light grand prix out of your system, unless you see Masher in his Lotus (shizbox). Learn the true range of the car if you are going to do lots of long trips in it.
