Dint really get the point you are trying to make. Do you mean drive at 50mph to get 40 mpg.
What’s wrong with getting 40mpg in a diesel ?
I mean you wouldn’t buy a V8 turbo diesel if you cared about economy. As he showed, you CAN get 50 mpg out of it but the driving style required is awful. 50mph, no heating, no breaks etc is not a fun way to do it. If you care about economy then just buy the 2.0 litre instead of the 4.0 and you’d get 50 mpg all day long whilst driving motorway speeds and using all the ancillaries.
I could probably go and google, but I’d imagine the car cost way more than a 4 cylinder version (don’t know if they made one for the A8). My old 2017 E class was a 2.0, and the 3.0 V6 cost 10 grand more which is just insane for 60 bhp and less economy…
My point was essentially you wouldn’t buy that car for the result he was trying to get - you buy a V8 for the power and torque, which is absolutely fine. It’s a fun experiment and makes entertaining TV but for real life it would an awful way to drive IMO.

) and its been a breeze, ive had 2 charging issues in that time. If anything they charge too fast, both times this week ive ended up charging more than i needed because my pee or lunch stop was longer than the actual time i needed to charge.

Bit of a culture shift after 10 years of never having any expenses questioned to the new guy plotting (a massive over simplification of) my work trips in Google maps then asking where an extra 40 miles came from on a 500+ mile trip!
