Anything else I should consider or be aware of as someone not really dipping into this forum very often? Just lookin for a shortlist and any 'gotcha's like the kia having the theft and therefore insurance issue at the moment.

Volvo ex40 (or xc40 recharge depending on model year) if you like Volvo.

Tiny boot, certainly not dog friendly if a Tesla Model Y is no good.

The XC40/EX40 above is the same platform as the polestar 2 though and would be able to better fit.

All that matters to the vast majority is that we get stuff cheaper.

Soz I think they're more long and low from when I've seen them about like a saloon? If there was a straightforward estate with decent reliability that'd be ideal for me.

thanks I do or did like the volvo, at least until recently it feels like I've been in the garage for suspension parts nearly every couple of months. This time it was a seized brake yesterday. If I had a driveway and a few more car tools I'd probably have been better off just learning cars a bit better and refreshing the entire suspension at home at this point but that's one hobby too many at the moment.
I had a look at the volvo EVs for a company car a few years ago (went for a Niro 3 that time, it was when the lead times were huge a few years back) when they just came out tbf and they did appeal. Are they aging well so far no major unique problems to look out for?

Most EVs have high boot floors. The Enyaq wasn’t too bad IIRC and that should be similar for most VAG cars. The Renault 4 seems pretty good too.

Yeah that’s pretty much all that matters to many people. The CCP are starting to balance internal and external market subsidies though and that might result in export prices rising. Well, at least until the big four are confirmed and then per unit subsidies probably could increase. Unless the CCP feel things are going a little Jack Ma of course :p
 
The boot on the Y is bigger than the Polestar so if you have written off the Y, I can’t see the 2 being any better.

For context, I have a Y and my neighbour has a Polestar 2.
 
Any suggestions for a family friendly (ie a dog and a baby seat, neither of which we have yet, but future proofing!) EV?

I would really love a Renault 5, but I cannot see the former fitting in the back of one of those (especially as my other half wants a greyhound!)

Renault Scenic?
As much as I hate saying it, Tesla Y?
What Korean ones fit that bill?

We've been looking at an Elroq, footprint of the car is smaller than our XC60 but manages to have as much space and good range, similarly the Ford explorer. I like the Scenic also TBH, missus less so.

Worth taking a look at one they are decent enough cars, but from my limited experience I don't think it will work for your criteria - but that wasn't something I was considering when we had one so I can't really make a call on it.
